Which is your preferred defense? Would you want LSU to bring in a true 3-4 defense, or are you happy with what we have? It seems since Chavis has gotten here, our base D is the 4-2-5.

What yall think?

I actually love the 4-2-5 but you have to recruit the right personnel for the scheme just like any other defense.

I dig the 4-2-5. Especially with the speed we have on the d-line.

4-2-5 allows for more athletes and speed on the field. I however worry about a team using the power game on us. Yet it works for TCU.

Thats how i feel. At firs, i was concerned Chavis was moving safeties to Lb and LB's to DE, but i really like the way our defense plays out of the 4-2-5

with the personel we currently have, you have to go with the 4-2-5. We don't have many impact players at LB, but we have a ton of talent in the secondary, some of whom hit like LB's (Reid and Loston, and Mathieu is a miniture beast).

To clarify, I understand we dont have the personel to swap to it, but I was wondering if everyone was satisfied with the 4-2-5/ 4-3

I do like the 4-2-5, because you put some rediculous speed on the field with that scheme.

Not a fan of the 3-4 at all.

But honestly each one can be as effective as the other, just gotta play to the strengths of your talent.

You can't just switch to the 3-4 without recruiting for it. (If you want the transition to go pretty smoothly)

I just posted that above. I wasnt asking if yall wanted to change to a 3-4 this year. I just meant if you had to choose, which would you. We don't have one true NT on the entire team.

The 3-4 is too NFL.

Louisiana's athletes tend to be more geared for a 4-2-5 than a 3-4. The state just doesn't produce a ton of LBers.

I'll kige that. I actually like having that 5th DB out there, but i still like a 4-3 base D

Get enough hats to the ball fast enough, combined with some big strong interior linemen (see: "The Freak") and a power run game will have trouble.

Naw, KH would develop into an AA linebacker in a different dimension or something. Our guys play RB.

That's what we're talking about here. Outside of West Monroe, what other team in the state puts their best players on defense? The state doesn't produce LBers because the coaches in the state put them at RB.
