The Bad
- didn't help the offense out a lot either
- difficult time getting off the field
- the 3rd and Chavis is legit
- not enough pressure on QB's
- couldn't stop te run when it really counted against OM and Bama. McCluster and Ingram are excellent backs but we shouldn't concede defeat just because we're playing the best.

Besides 3rd down defense, what bugged me was the lack of adjustments made at halftime.

i hate his defense
since he's been a very successful coordinator in the sec for 15 years now, maybe it's you, not him. his run in the toughest conference is pretty astounding

I do agree that 3rd & Chavis is fitting
not nearly as bad as the myth. but the rant LOVES myths

I was with him until we started rushing 3 and then continued to rush 3 whilst getting picked apart
well i'm sure he'll be devastated to know you're not "with him" anymore. he'll just pack up his 15 years of experience and quit because you saw right through his farcical defensive schemes

I do not think a passive defense is the answer to any problems. Just ask a Tennessee fan. It reminds me of Lou Tepper all over again. Look at what an agressive defense like Alabama or Nebraska does to opponents. He is not the answer.
please tell me this is sarcasm

we should be jamming the WR at the LOS.
perhaps you missed the comments about not getting beat for a big play.

I would put more on the D for that loss though the other 2 Ls were definately O.
no way. if the offense had just moved the chains some, much less scored a couple more field goals, lsu wins comfortably. we got the ball back with about 4 mins left in the half and did nothing. then, that continued into the second half. that kind of thing kills the chance of winning

Chavis is good. Not great, but good.
that might be understating it a little but i agree for the most part. i would characterize him as VERY good. he's going to give you a solid game plan every week and the players are going to execute more often than not. that's going to put you in position to win every week with a competent offense

Crappy coaching keeps average players.... average
you seem to be insinuating that this is the situation at lsu despite the objective and demonstrable improvement in the defense

Here's the 3rd down efficiency ratings for the SEC (copied from pg 2 of this thread):

quote:

Third down efficiency:
Alabama 29.38
Florida 30.17
Mississippi 30.73
Auburn 33.73
Tennessee 34.12
Arkansas 36.02
Georgia 36.20
Mississippi St. 36.36
South Carolina 36.63
LSU 36.76
Vanderbilt 38.34
Kentucky 39.66

You can judge as to whether or not it's a "myth," but we could certainly do better.
