My friend from Tennessee has been warning me that 3rd Downs under Chavis will drive LSU Fans crazy. He said it has pissed off Tenn fans for years, that they coined it "3rd and Chavis".

He said that his defense utilizes that loose zone until you get into the Red Zone. Sound familiar.......Washington was 11 for 19 on 3rd Down, ohhh nooo.

LSU fans will not put up this bullshite bc our skill level on defense is too high to play loose zone.

the first time washington converted on 3rd was against a house blitz. also go back and look that the 3rd conversion in the 1st half vs the second. huge difference.

so, you know more about the skill level of the players than the coaches? If our defense has all this "skill" where are the all american defensive lineman we are used to seeing, who is it?

you don't understand brendoni, the blitz is the only successful defense in college football

Had a UT alum I work with tell me this exact same thing this morning. Said he was watching the game thinking he was seeing a rerun, only they weren't wearing orange jersies.

Yes, i think the LSU defense can play more man-to-man and bring max pressure. You are right when you say where are the All American's on the D-Line, they dont exist at this point.

By the way, one of my relatives is a former LSU player and has been to many practices. Just going off of his comments.

just curious, if lsu had blitzed the rest of the game like they did on the 1st drive, gave up 30-35 points and lost, how would you feel about this team/defense?

I am not saying blitz all the time like the Sabin era. But it was obvious that LSu had trouble getting to Locker. On 3rd down, when Washington had space (not in the Red Zone) was not the time to play soft zone leaving the middle of the field open. It also allowed their RB's to matchup with LSU LB's, plus they were concerned about the TE's.

Yes, the aggresiveness revealed itself in the 2nd half whic was good to see. Locker was also very accurate.
