We're so focused on the defense that nobody is really talking about this.

That was a terrible play call. Looked like it was designed to be for Nabers with no second option. Weird call after not running any plays like that the entire night.

Then the punt just makes no sense at all.

We knew our defense was swiss cheese. We knew they were gonna go down and probably score a touchdown even though they only needed to get in field goal range.

Our offense had been unstoppable. Our defense had been unable to stop anything.

Why the frick do you punt there?

Run it twice should have been the only thought process there.

Soft, played not to lose, and played not to win.

I was pissed the second we ran that play. Spread the field and either run diggs or let JD throw or run qb draw. the idea is we had 2 plays to get 5 yds so if you gain 3-4 yds on 3rd you definitely go for it there. Our call just narrowed the field to a third and was easy to defend

We talked about it ad nauseum on the Score Board well into Sunday before Tiger Rant switched back. In fact I saw you in those threads

He was not. There was a corner spying on him the entire time.

We've talked about it, It's just that all the threads questioning coaching are getting anchored. It's almost like they don't want us to talk about reality.

the play was supposed to be a run or pass option for JD. Ole Miss covered the JD run, then Nabors got wiped out and the other options ran into each other.

I agree though, it wasn't a great call to the short side. But hope was roll out, JD can take off and run, but ole miss did a good job

I'm sure it was discussed but clearly being dwarfed by the attention on our defense, understandably so.

Regardless, there were some bad coaching decisions towards the end of the game that are being somewhat overlooked.

Things like running plays with 20 seconds still on the play clock.

And how about not throwing it to Nabers or BTJ on that final drive. WTF was that wheel route 20 yard pass to Diggs with 2 guys on him?

Spread the field

This is the correct answer.. Had to give JD options instead of pinning it down like they did on that play. stupid!!!

Bad play call but the focus is on the defense for not getting a single stop

This one hurts. Get that first down and game over. Run twice or throw twice without scrambling

Yes he was.

Spying? you mean covering him?

It's almost the same exact play call that won the Alabama game to Mason Taylor. Nabors is in motion and at full speed. the two wideouts to the right are just running straight up the feild to get in the way of the defenders, which they did. JD should only take two steps and throw the ball. At worst Nabors gets hit and is tackled immediately right at the line. JD just didn't throw it for whatever reason. They talked specifically about this play after the bama game and how the timing is so important on when JD throws the ball. I don't remember if they said you get 2 or 3 steps then you have to throw. Regardless, YOU HAVE TO THROW IT.

Doesn't change the fact that the entire series was stupid play calling, and that 3rd down play was stupid. and the defense sucks.

But don't say he wasn't open, b/c he was when the ball was supposed to be thrown.
JD is not the reason we lost. He's the only reason we didn't get our asses blown out.

I don’t blame JD there but yes he could have hit Nabers if the threw it but there was an INT risk too

Easy. Extra Tight End. Run 2 plays with Diggs to get 5 yards. I bet the "House" he gets the 1st down and LSU wins.
Punt, OM scores anyway. Dumb Fn decision to give them the ball after we could not stop them all night. ALL THE COACHES LOST THIS GAME. PERIOD.

For me, personally, it was a bad call. I just hate a rollout zone flood like that that crowds the sideline and gives few outs. It lets the defense cover one half of the field and pursue.

Nabers was open, JD just has to pull the trigger and he didn't. So you could say the desired outcome of the play was there and just not executed.

But I don't like that play in the 3rd down, desperately need a 1st to keep the offense going situation. Daniels was hot, that play takes away half the field for him and only gives him 1 option. And what if he can't get the ball there? We've eliminated Brian Thomas who was beasting, we've stretched Jayden out to the sideline so he can't use his legs if the throw isn't there. I just don't like eliminating that many secondary options in a must convert situation.

Honestly we should have called 3rd with a 4th down in mind. Kelly said he gave no thought to going for it on 4th and 7. Too far he said. But hell your defense was not stopping Ole Miss. All you did by punting is let them burn more clock from our offense by driving a longer field.
