Tiger Stadium has never been more formidable and raucous than it was in the latter half of the 1990s and the first half of the 2000s. The fans were so desperate for success and the stadium was not yet full of dilettantes more interested in socializing and leaving early than the game itself.

Thanks for posting this. I enjoyed watching that and reliving that time.

I was at my in-laws that weekend after we had our first child. My brother-in-law asked me if I wanted to go to the stadium and see if we could get some tickets. He had just returned home after 7 years in Los Angeles and was starving to see the Tigers.

Bought two tickets for $125 each which we thought was sky high but well worth it after we saw the game. Sat in the Northeast corner at the very top of the stadium. When the LSU defense made that stop late in the game, the stadium erupted. It had been a while since I saw that. Definately brought back the Magic. One of my favorite games.

As a 90s kid, didn't get any better than this night. Especially being at Auburn the year before.
I'd write notes on the back.

Dinardo probably deserves more credit for taking the program out of the Hallman doldrums.
Got the fanbase back for sure. I sat in some pretty miserable Tiger Stadiums during the Hallman tenure.
He also got some in state players to stay home at a time when most were leaving - Faulk.
One bad hire with Tepper was his downfall along with opening his own restaurant Dinardos now Ruffinos.
He made it a lot more attractive for Saban a couple years later as Saban saw the potential first hand when LSU beat him in the Indy Bowl.

I've gotten about 10 different answers to where exactly "bring back the magic" came from.

DiNardo coined that phrase prior to the season. Maybe even was his introductory presser?
Said he wanted to Bring the Magic back to Death Valley.

He fought to get the rule change for us to wear whites at home again.
He made sure we were getting Louisiana kids. He landed Kevin Faulk.

So suddenly, it felt like things were moving the way they should.

we go into the game 1-1 against top 5 Auburn. Whom we should have beaten the previous year.
They were #5 in the country. At night. Nobody giving us a shot.

and Death Valley brought her A game.
it had been a long time since she rocked like that. It was 6 years of pent up frustration just waiting for the right moment to unleash pure hell.

When Twillie came down with that ball in corner of Endzone was pure jubilation.

then all Dan Borne could say over the PA was:

"The Magic is Back!!!"

"The Magic is Back!!!"

"The Magic is Back!!!"

was freaking epic.

If Troy Twillie ever pays for his own meals/drink in Baton Rouge for the rest of his life, we have failed as a fan base.
