1995 Auburn-LSU Yea, it was time for DiNardo to go with his stubborness. But that Auburn game in 1995 was just awesome.

This was our first home game wearing white since 1982. Packed house playing #5 Auburn (they were overrated but at that time, who cared?). Just a fantastic evening!

I've gotten about 10 different answers to where exactly "bring back the magic" came from.

Wasn't it just a team or fan motto for the season that year? Kinda like block put the noise or one team one heartbeat

Dinardo probably deserves more credit for taking the program out of the Hallman doldrums.
Got the fanbase back for sure. I sat in some pretty miserable Tiger Stadiums during the Hallman tenure.
He also got some in state players to stay home at a time when most were leaving - Faulk.
One bad hire with Tepper was his downfall along with opening his own restaurant Dinardos now Ruffinos.
He made it a lot more attractive for Saban a couple years later as Saban saw the potential first hand when LSU beat him in the Indy Bowl.

I think a lot of those seem to age poorly because they were stored on film before being transferred to digital. National TV broadcasts weren't near as bad back then.

the game was not on regular television. This clip is from the Auburn produced version of their "Tigervision." The guy calling the game Andy Burcham(sp?) is their radio guy now after Rob Bramlett's tragic passing.

he was a warrior a few weeks later in Columbia vs South Carolina. You're correct, very good player on some poor to mediocre teams.

I remember listening on the radio in our livingroom as a kid. This is the first time I've seen a video of it. Gave me chills and brought back memories of listening to games with my dad. Thanks for posting.

True

But it all gets taken back when you are reminded what he did with the paint job on the field.

And Booger.

Grabbing both made a huge impact since they decided the were coming to LSU specifically because it was the homestate and they wanted to impact their home state.

I often wonder what '95 would have looked like if Roosevelt Potts hadn't gotten himself placed on probation and had to go to NLU (ULM) instead of LSU. Potts would have been a Jr. when KFreezy came in.

What DiNardo did right was prioritize Louisiana recruits again, create some excitement with the fanbase, and change the culture and conditioning of the players. What he did wrong was think LSU was Notre Dame or Vanderbilt. He was too stubborn to understand that you have to adapt to succeed.

But he laid the foundation for what was to come next, so I'm still thankful that he did bring back the magic.

That was the VERY FIRST LSU game I'd ever attended. Will never forget that night and I was in the student section.

McConnell wasn’t exactly a great hire either.
