Barton Simmons:

quote:

"Last year when I was asked to rank all 65 power five head coaches, I had Orgeron outside the top 40 and in terms of his resume at the time, it’s pretty hard to argue he should have been much higher. What a difference a year can make. The difference between this year and last year is arguably the best team in college football history. So I’m rewarding Orgeron for putting together that roster, that coaching staff and allowing them to play with that level of fearlessness and passion. Every player seems to love playing for him and every coach seems to love coaching for him and the man can recruit. Sometimes it doesn’t have to be more complicated than that."

Jimbo #9, Herman not listed.

For reference this is a top 25 list. He did not rank all 65 like last year.

Hard to argue against the guy who just had the best season of all time.

O pushed all the right buttons at exactly the right time in 2019.

Hiring Brady was brilliant. The team was focused and motivated all year. No game day mistakes.

Possibly unpopular opinion, herman is better than jimbo. Jimbo is probably the most overrated coach on cfb today. Hes been 6-8 wins since 2016 now

It doesn’t get talked about a lot but while not as bad as Les’s was at LSU Jimbo’s offense is kind of antiquated ever since more and more schools have become more modern than him he has not won as much.

I was thinking about this.

Saban chose Tua over Hurts.
Dabo chose T-Law over Bryant
Smart couldn’t chose Fields over Fromm.

Think that highlights that he can stock the pantry but he simply can’t cook.

That and his in game decisions sometimes are flat out horrible. I don’t trust him to win a big game at all.

Remember when Jerry Stovall was coach of the year and we fired him the next season?

Remember when Les was COY?

I remember..

This is the part that gets overlooked. And all credit goes to Orgeron.

Brady was instrumental obviously as was Burrow, but Orgeron handled every bump in the road and every bit of adversity masterfully.

He’s absolutely deserving of such a lofty ranking and such high regard.

He's 2-0 vs Smart and a month ago one of the talking heads had him listed below Smart.

He may not be a "X" and "O" guy, but he built the field staff and often overlooked, completely overhauled and built up the support staff. Since he's been HC LSU has made technological advances that put the program at the cutting edge. He's a relentless recruiter and master motivator and worked the transfer system to LSU's advantage (understatement). It's really remarkable what he's done.

O is getting better as he ages. He’s letting his coaches actually coach.

He’s earned it. It’s a lot more to coaching than Xs and Os and he’s checked the boxes with recruiting, staff hires, etc

"He may not be a "X" and "O" guy....."

Says who? All his coaches, players and people who have been around him say the exact opposite. You're still buying in to the media driven myth.

Its been remarkable, the respect Burrow and the Assistant Coaches have given coach O when they are interviewed.
