24/7's 10 nastiest defensive lines in college football for 2019

There are some strong candidates for nastiest defensive line across college football. The best combine the talent and depth needed to plug up running lanes and harass opposing quarterbacks.
1. AUBURN TIGERS
2. MICHIGAN STATE SPARTANS
3. LSU TIGERS
4. CLEMSON TIGERS
5. UTAH UTES
6. IOWA HAWKEYES
7. ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE
8. NOTRE DAME
9. IOWA STATE
10. GEORGIA BULLDOGS
3. LSU TIGERS
Defensive end Rashard Lawrence was the defensive MVP for LSU in its Fiesta Bowl win over UCF to end last season, and then the senior decided to return to Baton Rouge for his final year of college eligibility. That is part of the reason why LSU will field one of the most formidable defensive lines in 2019. Junior Glen Logan and senior Breiden Fehoko also tout starting experience, and they will likely see the majority of the snaps at the other defensive end spot. The nose tackle duties could fall to sophomore Tyler Shelvin again. Shelvin could be challenged by freshman early enrollee Siaki Ika, who joined the Tigers as a 247Sports Composite four-star recruit. LSU will also get back talented pass rusher K'Laivon Chaisson. He was lost to injury in last year's season opener, and the redshirt sophomore will occupy the buck spot if he returns to form. LSU coach Ed Orgeron will have many talented options to rely on, and that's bad news for LSU opponents.

I understand Auburn at 1 but Bama at 7 and UGA at 10 makes me suspicious of this list. LSU's d-line will be good.. and I hope Chaisson comes back as good as ever, but #3 seems a bit high.

Would love to see our 3 down linemen get more pressure without a blitz or bringing an edge this upcoming season. Lawrence flashes pass rush ability throughout each season but hasn't been consistent. Fehoko is a monster off the snap. Logan is still coming into his own and could make a massive impact if he gets better as a technician.

Shelvin at nose will open up this defense tremendously. Fehoko should be an end
Shelvin will command double teams. Need him at a reasonable weight. Ika as well

Chaisson back will be HUGE, he was definitely missed last year

Lawrence needs to focus on getting in the best shape of his life. He does that and this could be a special year.

IF Shelvin lives up to his recruiting hype/potential, then he should free a lot of things up for Fehoko/Lawrence. I know that he CAN play NT, but LSU becomes a lot less effective overall when they have to play Fehoko there. They maximize their play with Fehoko/Lawrence at ends.
Chassion is still, right now, nothing more than "potential". If he is the guy we thought he would be last season before the injury, then LSU could have it's best rush combo in a while due to the fact that Divinity had to make great strides in that dept. because of the Chassion injury. A healthy Chassion living up to his potential coupled with a guy who learned to become a good pass rusher last season could make this a very formidable group.
Regardless, THIS is the season for Orgeron to make hay. The DL looks like it will take a step back with Lawrence, Fehoko and Divinity leaving, and not a ton of proven players waiting in the wings to replace them. Couple that with the fact that LSU has the QB it's been waiting for since Mett and a relatively favorable schedule, there is no excuse why this team shouldn't win at least 10 games. Win at Texas and LSU sets themselves up as a serious playoff contender the rest of the way.

Teams should have trouble moving the ball against LSU in 2019. In particular I expect to see the run game vastly improved by this defense.
Auburn #1? They were pretty mediocre defensively last year.
