I was there. That’s my purple flag in the picture!!!! We were in right field on row 1. Ray Wright was almost in our laps. And paint boy almost fricked it up

I miss those days, and that team, a lot. That was the most fun I've ever had being a sports fan. I don't know why it stands out above the rest, but there was just something about that team.

Knowing how much different college baseball is now, is kind of sad.

Just that swing on Hawpe's 2nd homerun was awesome. Hawthorne even knew it was gone off the bat.

As I recall, Barbier turned to dugout and asked “do you believe?” as he walked to plate and hit that home run followed by Witten’s 2-run HR. Stuff of legend

I was in the outfield bleachers for that game. It was absolutely one of the best sports fan experiences I’ve ever had. Twizzler anyone?

I love the crowd reactions in that photo. Everyone thinks they’re about to catch a ball.

People forget that Ray Wright came to LSU as a 2B, so that catch is all the more remarkable.

Brad Hawpe hit a homer during that CWS that hasn’t landed yet and he pimped the hell out of it and it was just pure beauty

Yeah that second 3 run bomb by Hawpe vs USC had to be one of the furthest I ever seen hit.It went way over the bleachers and was destroyed

Hawpe hit one in '97 or '98 at Hoover Met that still hasn't landed back when NOBODY hit it out of that park.

That game proved that you did not have to be the best team on the field that day.....because overall Stanford was.

However, LSU was better than Stanford for 2 innings.....and that's all that matters
