2026 is a regression

Winning and losing is not something I concern myself with at this time. When you have been a failing franchise for 4 straight years and replace the coaching staff as a result, the main thing you want to see is some semblance of progression. You want to see forward movement to being an improved team that will start being competitive in the near future.
We have the opposite of this. The second half of last season gave us a lot of hope: we were watching a team come together, fight hard and look competitive in games. We had a young QB that showed promise as being our next franchise player. As a result, we came into '26 with faith that this thing is building to something good. Instead we are watching an implosion of a team. That grit and moxie is gone, and every position level has regressed rather than improve. We are still watching silly formation penalties that ought to never happen, and we are witnessing our franchise QB get pummeled.
Last week's win was not good, and this loss should solidify that. When you win due to another team giving you the game, that is not a promising projection of a bright future; however, when you lose with determination, hard work and promising play, that's when you have something to be proud of.
We have almost nothing to be proud of right now. Outside of watching Young play with an endless motor every week, this is a disaster and an embarrassment.

We have lost 3 of our top 6 olineman. And we are not yet halfway.

Every team deals with injuries. It's not an excuse. Plus this OL was playing poorly prior to injuries

We could have the 90’s Cowboys OL and these backs would still only gain 2 yards a carry.

The only positives I've seen thus far this season are Olave, Vele, Young, the early promise of B Brown, and a slight progression from Shough (still absolutely think he's the guy, but it's been rougher than I thought. Not close to being entirely his fault though)
Other than that it feels like everything has gotten worse. Something needs to change.

Exactly. Like was stated in another thread. Players adapt to the personality and characteristics of the head coach. Currently, we have a lady boy for a head coach.

The Saints were 1-8 after Week 9 in 2025. And you think they regressed?

Coach Teef just isn’t someone the players believe in.

Shough was 5-4 last year
He’s 2-5 with better players this year and more games under his belt
Comp % down, TD% down, INT% up year over year
Middle of the pack defense last year to near league worst this year

I have nothing to add other than to say that I've been a fan for many decades and I'm numb to this kind of season. It's happened so many times that it's something that I accept.
Next season, let's grab a good Top Ten First Pick and see what happens.

“ Currently, we have a lady boy for a head coach.”
I was watching the game at a bar yesterday and when the camera did a closeup of Moore, a woman nay the bat pointed and shouted, “you’re not even a real man!”

slight progression from Shough
He had some stinkers against Minny and ATL but he’s mostly played well enough to win on any competently run team. Closer to that 12-16 range of QBs than top 10 but I also don’t think we’re getting a proper evaluation of him because every fricking thing around him (outside of Olave and Vele) is completely dysfunctional.
He’s on pace for 4000 yards and 32 Passing TDs and 12 INTs. That’s good enough for a different coach to buy in and see what he’s got for a year or two, as long as that coach has a long enough leash to go draft a different guy if Shough doesn’t progress

Firing the HC after his second season on the job is an option but in the long run might not be the best option.

It seems like you're trying to pin the blame on Shough for the record, here. Also only citing his statistics which is a joke.
The blame falls on the head coach, scheme and running game.

Oh no, I'm completely happy with him, just don't think he's made that big of a jump since last season. More of a praise for last season than slight on his season thus far.

Normally you’re one of the better posters on here but it’s laughable you pin this on Shough. Laughable.
We have announcers and national media commenting on how predictable our offense is. Predictable pass game. Non existent run game.
It’s Shough’s fault. Come the frick on Gyno

It’s all about who the replacement would be. And never say that it can’t get worse. That’s always a possibility, too.

Him on pace to be the most hit QB since 2006 has nothing to do with it either lmao

What were they after week 9? Are you being contentious for the sake of being contentious, or are you truly this obtuse?
