If it’s on attempts, it’s roughly 40 passes over the year, or around 3 per game.

If you add 20 passes to those completed LY on the same attempts, he’s at 63%.

Drop rate is pct of passes thrown that should have been caught that were dropped

It’s not based on total attempts

I would Assume it’s drops per attempt
that's not how cfb calculates drop rate. cfb's is "drops" divided by "drops + completions"

I've maintained for a while the biggest issue was OL protection followed up by excessive drops

My opinion as well

If you go back and watch that video of all of Burrow's passes & runs from last year, but only look at the OL, its pretty scary at times.

Hopefully we'll be a little better but I'm not super optimistic.

Damn, Maryland's athletic department screwed Canada by not giving his WRs enough JUGS time.

I thought the drops were due to bad coaching.

I cant Find these statistics anywhere official so idk how you can say one way or another

But I also think you calculating the. Either way will tell you something different.

Drops/attempt will tell you how much our offense overall was affected by the drops

Drop/target will tell you how well our WR were catching the ball

Obviously you want both to be low anyway.

There is a football statisticians association. They define a "drop" as a ball that is well within the "strike zone" of a receiver which should be easily caught.

So a ball that is outside that easy area, but very catchable by an expert receiver, is not a drop under association guidelines.

And there are no official drop stats (outside WR rooms) in college football.

What the actual name of the association?

Are they recognized by the NCAA or NFL?

So, according to the CBS analyst, LSU has the 57th worst drop rate out of 65 Power-Five teams.

I guess the good news is that there is one hell of a lot of room for improvement!

(But let's keep those Jugs machines locked up!)

According to the standard drop rate we had roughly 26 drops last year

So, if we cut that number in half which would put us near the best, that’s 13 drops for the year, or about 1 less per game

So, last year burrow averaged

19/32 for 222 yards a game

If we cut the drops in half to be near the top in the nation he averages instead:

20/32 for 230 yards a game

Improving would help, but this is very small potatoes and gets talked about far too much

ETA:

16/29 for 222 yards a game

Vs
17/29 for 230 yards a game

So you think "average drops" will get you any wins in the playoffs?

You think JUGS machines 6 weeks before the season starts is going to make that big of a difference?

The development of a WR starts the second he steps on campus. The die has been cast for this season.
