If Les just up and quit today and said that he didn't want to coach at LSU anymore. The 15 schools ahead of him in that list would hire him in a second and ask theirs to leave. The only school he probably get hired at is the Gumps. Get real

There's only two coaches I would swap him for so IMO he's #3.

One's at Alabama other is at South Carolina.

#17 is borderline retarded and huge troll attempt.

It's all about "perception", The media creates it. They could give a shite about results.

But our rankings also take into account a blank slate. If you start a program from scratch, which coach would you hire?

I think from scratch is what people are failing to see.

Not too many people on that list walked into a situation like Miles did. That is no knock on Miles, just apples to oranges with so many factors.

Meyer, Shaw, and Petrino walked into pretty good situations on that list.

Not saying we should have won but the way it looked was just ridiculous and then top that with the Clock it game at Ole Miss, the T-Bob Hebert saving our butts in the Tenn game and then include the games where we tend to play down to our opponents and you have the recipe for the National Medial ranking him pretty low. Certainly , IMO he should be ranked higher Im just guessing that is what the media is basing their

opinion on.

Do you watch other teams? Name one coach ahead of miles that hasn't got their butts whipped? We crushed Auburn last year, but malzahn is better? Auburn has recruited just as well as we have. Hasn't lost to Spurier. Petrino is a good coach, but his actions don't allow me to think he's better than miles. Id say he's left his last few spots in worse shape then when he was hired.

Athlon's Braden Gall has said on several occasions that he doesn't like Miles. For some reason he takes every opportunity to bash Miles. Even during the 2011 season, he poo poo'd every big win. After we beat Bama at Bama, he said he stil thought Bama was the best team in the country. He said Bama should keep #1 ranking. What makes matters worst is that he is on Sirriusxm college sports nation everyday.

Top 10 at least. I don't know about top 5 though.

IMO even going by the "from scratch" criteria, Coach Miles is top 5. Heck he made Okie St. a threat to the Sooners. When he was hired, the one question LSU was looking for was a relentless recruiter, that was a major factor in hiring Coach Miles. So to the naysayers about building a program from scratch, name me one coach BESIDE Nick Saban that RECRUITS and DEVELOPS TOP talent better. And lets not forget the players GRADUATE under Coach Miles at a clip only second behind Vandy.

So that from scratch crap is in the eyes of the beholder.

I won't put Stoops ahead of Miles. He has consistently lose big games and bowl games over a long period. The Whipping they gave Bama was a huge surprise.

Absolutely agree. Miles is a way better coach than Stoops.

And he ended up being right, they were. Miles should be #5 on the list right behind all the other coaches who have a NC on their resume.

I honestly would not swap him for either. Obviously, Saban and Spurrier are great coaches and perhaps better than Les in general. It's difficult to say at this time, really. However, LSU has done the Saban thing. He left and took a job with a rival. frick him. I think Les is better for LSU than Spurrier is.

What do they base the rankings on? I am not a huge miles fan , but, he recruits great , wins a lot of games , and puts a ton of kids in the nfl, and those kids are ready to,play in the nfl. I can't understand why he isn't ranked in the top 3 or worst case , top 5.

Finally someone sees this. Given the criteria I don't even think that Saban would be my first choice nowadays.
