That was one embarrassing performance. A season erasing performance.

Bill Connelly is a hack. His 2019 SP+ rankings confirmed that.

This is why Oklahoma State losing to Iowa State hurt so badly. Oklahoma State was favored by 28, blew a 24-7 lead, and had a potential game-winning FG go right over the upright. Based on the angle, it likely would've bounced in had it been lower.

2011 LSU is the only team to my knowledge that had its season ruined by a monumental upset that didn't even involve them.

I think Arkansas could have won a NC if Alabama and LSU didn’t exist.
This is the part that makes that list so ludicrous.

Arkansas was easily top 5, probably 3rd best team that year. Would likely have beaten anyone else in the country.
Both LSU and Alabama blew them off the field.

LSU was 1-1 against Alabama, and coasted through everyone else like they weren't even trying. Had they won that bowl, 2011 would still be considered probably Top 3 alltime. You have the Nebraska argument, and 2019 LSU as the other two.

As an aside, this other argument is why super-conferences are a bad idea.
Madking says the SEC West was weak, when in the final week of the season you had teams ranked #1, #2, #3. Well, duh, of course the other three division teams would have a bunch of losses... Auburn could have been a top 5 team on the field, and would still have 3 losses minimum. If you were just average, you get slaughtered.

How about 1959. They are a terrible spot against Tenn from winning all. Remember NC was awarded before the bowl games back then. Funny the SEC referees sucked 60 years ago

IIRC the offense stats were skewed that season because the defense and special teams were so dominant we often ended up with a short field. That team was really dominating.

Miami should be higher. That 86 team had a bunch of killers.

So should 66 Bama. Bear said it was his best team ever.

Loaded w nfl talent but it was really heavy on the defensive side. Defensively lsu and bama had all time great defenses. But why I know lsu IMO isn’t a top 25 team (not being n top 50 is dumb) Is because we didn’t have a championship caliber QB good enough to at least make an nfl roster. Oline was good but did any of the starting 5 play on Sunday’s ? They were maulers and great run blockers thanks to Lester. When ya run the rock ALL the time things get sketchy pass blocking

Your criteria likely eliminates 95% of the teams on that list.
Probably half of that list threw 15-20 att.... per season, not per game.
