You’re absolutely right. This board is just full of selfish assholes who don’t even care about the future of these athletes, that have done many great things for our beloved university. TMJ actually played for us this season while many opted out before the season even started. He gave everything he had and now it’s time for him to go and make something for him and his family. Best of luck to him

A&M on thanksgiving weekend happened last year too. WE played SEC champ, Peach bowl, and natty. The timeline shows it really was nothing more than the same things as opting out of a lesser bowl game.

But it's not time for that. The season is still going. He just told all of his team mates in purple and gold, "f you, I'm all about me."

The goal of almost every player in that lockerroom is to get to the NFL and get paid I doubt anyone holds it against him. Hell the younger guys love it because now they get an opportunity.

Why do you care so much, does he own you anything? You sound like you taking it real personal.

There’s no point in him risking getting hurt at this point in the season. We suck and there’s no reason for him to keep playing. You want to blame someone or something on all this shite this season, then blame the pandemic, because if it weren’t for that, this would have been a normal season, and nobody would have opted out until bowl season

His teammates will all say the right things and say they support his decision. Even coaches are scared to criticize a kid for quitting.

But if you're a teammate and the best player on the team gets up and tells everyone how they all need to finish the season strong, only to bail on them all before the toughest game of the season, yeah I assure you there are guys who resent what he did. They just aren't going to say it.

TM6 has great talent, size, and he's fast. Almost on the same level of the Metcalf guy in Seattle. (Not quite). Through no fault of his own, he's shown to be a little injury prone to this point of his playing career. I don't like for any Tiger to leave with eligibility, but this time it makes sense.

Didn’t the head coach quit to some degree? Or at least priorities changed?

The fact is: the kid quit the team to protect his financial future and that is a selfish act, regardless if it's the best thing for him to do, personally.
People commit selfish acts to protect/improve their financial future all the time I'm willing to bet most of the board has left one job for another because the new job is better for them. Does that make them quitters?

Other young men decide to play possibly risking their future, but understand what a commitment actually means.
Tell that to the football recruits LSU is about to tell to look elsewhere. They just kicked a kid out of the class last night, and there are more to come.

Under normal circumstances he doesn't quit

This entire year has been the furthest thing from it

holy shite just when seems we've heard the dumbest thing possible on this site, someone one ups it

I changed jobs a few years ago, went to a competitor in part because i was concerned about the direction of my old company, am i a "quitter"?

I suppose you also think the generals in WWI were right to keep charging out of the trenches while troops keep getting slaughtered because you don't quit just because something isn't going well.

Speaking of which, you must be in favor of removing all Confederate Monuments, not because they are "offensive" but because they were quitters right

The saddest thing here is (allegedly) grown men upset a kid "quit" an extra curricular activity

It isn't even an extracurricular activity. People on here refer to LSU football as a business all there time. Hell, they are doing it right now to justify kicking recruits out of the class. "Processing recruits is just part of the business." Yeah, it's only part of the business because they're on the side that benefits. But as soon as a player makes a business decision for himself and LSU doesn't benefit they call him a quitter. It's so hypocritical it's almost laughable.

Quitting is quitting.

You making a sorry excuse that it's okay to quit when your team is losing doesn't change that fact.

2020 is 2020.

You pretending this is a year like any other doesn't change that fact.

No year in college football history have players opted out of the entire season over uncertainties surrounding a pandemic because things weren't going well. There's just never been a season like this one. But now you chest beating keyboard warriors are trying to erase the context of this abnormal season and fixate on him being a "quitter" because you're losers IRL.

He's going to be an instant millionaire and your lives will still suck.

Marshall could have really boosted his draft stock with a big game against a cornerback that NFL teams hold in high regard.

Well you are basing your theory on the fact that this LSU offensive line is going to protect the QB long enough for Marshall to even get 5 yds. That shite is not gonna happen.

So to say he's running away from Surtain is ludicrous. By the time he gets 5 yds downfield the Bama DLine will be knocking our QB on his arse. But yet you seems like the person that will blame Marshall for not getting open.

Marshall, not Chase, opted out due to the pandemic

Because they quit

The NFL draft day is still in late April. Finishing the season with his team mates would not stop Terrace Marshall from being drafted.
