You can't hold a team meeting and quit a week later literally right after a loss with our biggest rival next week.

He literally told the team to stay on course and finish the year out but then he does the opposite of what he says? and you want to give an excuse for that? F any argument. Be a man and keep your word. HE should get flamed for this move. He tries to be all Ra Ra and then puts his tail between his leg quitting.

Well, he didn't quit this particular week because of the threat of injury; he could just as easily been hurt last week.

Not to prepare for the combine. Playing even into January didn't hurt the LSU players in last year's draft.

Odd timing with Bama and Surtain coming to town.

Call it whatever you want but Its no different than you resigning from your job to take a better job to support your family.

So you think quitting from your job in the middle of an enormous project or deal at the end of the year won't bring lots of heat or burn many bridges?

if you're working a complete shite job going to Burger King to a Wendys sure you may have a point but, you have no idea what you're talking about. Most places if you get up and leave during crunch time synonymous to the week before bama you will have no luck getting a reference and probably have your colleagues tell their network what you did which will make getting hired elsewhere incredibly hard.

This is such a bullshite narrative. He was ready to play bama a few weeks ago but now all of a sudden he is scared?

Having never quit from any team in my life...I can't relate to what TM is doing. Of course, I didn't have millions riding on it so there's that. But still, fk him for being a quitter....it sends a bad message.

I wonder what the record would be if no one quit the team...

If that project(which I'm essentially an intern on, because that would be the equivalent for big time college football, an NFL internship) is going to fail miserably and possibly make my potential job forecast worse hell yes I'm getting out before shite hits the fan. Especially when the job that is staring me in the face is going to pay me millions of dollars.

On top of all that, if I have had this new job in the works for years, and the only reason it's a big deal that I'm leaving is because of a global pandemic messing up what has otherwise been a consistent schedule for the past 20 years, then yeah, I'm out.

If that make me a quitter on your mind, then whatever. But I'll never fault someone for making the best decision for their family. Especially when it involves securing the financial future of their family.

People leave Big 4 public accounting jobs/investment banking jobs right before big projects all the time. Everyone tells them congrats on the new cushion industry job and best of luck. Why? Because they've just spent the last 3-5 years working their arse off to get that job. Nobody is holding that against them.

Only if you don’t give proper notice (typically 2 weeks), though I some cases the old company may not require you to finish the weeks and have you leave immediately

How many coaches get a better job and leave before the end of the season? Nobody calls those guys selfish and quitters.

No he didn’t, because he quit. Weird how difficult this is to grasp.

I’ve said this before but what’s pisses me off so much is that HE wanted to hold a players only meetin just two weeks ago to bring the team together acting like some kind of team leader.
And then he just quits on his team....

I’ll put it like this.... no speech equal no problem......

This is correct.

This is just a bizarre year, I am not blaming him or Chase to be honest.

Then why THIS week? Risk of injury? Just as likely to be hurt against A&M, but he played. Preparing for the combine? Please. Seven days wouldn't make any difference.

He caught just 2 passes against Alabama last year, and he doesn't have Chase, Jefferson or Moss to take the pressure off him this year.

He knew without question who would be covering him Saturday, and how much NFL scouts would be looking at that matchup.

Leaving before the Alabama game assures that his last game was good tape, and he doesn't risk putting a bad game out there.

He didn't leave last week. He isn't leaving next week. He's leaving THIS week, before his biggest challenge. People talk about players making business decisions. Marshall just made one.
