First of all you are in no position to question anything Jay does and if you disagree then unmask yourself and tell us who you are as the professional expert and your pedigree! Post it up boy we want to know your successes!

Starting Dutton was a reasonable decision. You had to get 9 innings and no way in the world you are counting on more than 2 from Helmers. So where are you getting those innings? He tried a bunch of guys, and luckily one paid off big.

Now, if he thought he could get 5 innings from Helmers he probably wouldn’t have started Dutton. But if you told me before the game we were getting 5.2 from either Dutton or Helmers I would have guessed Dutton.

Ack just struck out the side. I don’t blame JJ for going with Jump there, but my call would have been to go with the hot hand. Ack was on it!

Every coaching decision is a gamble. You play algorithms and hope you are playing with a good hand. Someone else plays a hand and picks from the deck. It's the undrawn cards in the deck and those in other hands you can't predict well. When we second-guess a play, there are a number (x) of other results that could or couldn't happen. Or maybe it's like Wheel of Fortune and occasionally you hit a Bankrupt. LSU hit a bankrupt or Losea Turn after the top of the ninth. Because of the possibilities that occur after the Brown muscle. It could have still gone well. Yes--I am disappointed in the results, but proud the Tigers dug themselves out of the hole and started playing like they could. Well, some good came out of it--now I can stop spending all my time attentive to LSU baseball and spending time on things I need to do. Enjoy your summer, Tiger fans.

People can hindsight all they want with all the defensive decisions today, but LSU played two "championship" games in the last 9 days against top 4 teams in the nation.

Both teams were on their 4th game of the weekend, and LSU managed 3 runs in both games and 10 total hits. Both games included a stretch of 5 innings where LSU didn't manage a single hit. LSU lost both games to much better teams.

Not a single person 5 hours ago would have thought 3 runs would be enough for LSU to win this game. It wasn't.

That's really all there is to it.

It's baseball. I was glad hellmers came in and threw well. I've always liked his stuff.

Ack was dealing, but I get the bringing Jump in also. I'm a coach and in that situation after the season they had, if stud is chomping at the bit to close it out its going to be hard to not hand him the ball.

Maybe would have put Guidry in for the 10th though. But hindsight is what it is.

From how most people bailed off the ship at the midway point to now. It was a very exciting season at the end.

Let's see the moves JJ makes now for next year!

It’s absolutely true. Game 1 starters close out game 7’s in regionals when it’s close all the time.

I agree with the posts that you leave Ack in till somebody gets on base then bring in Jump

But the offense lost the game today. No timely hitting
6 hits can’t win in this situation

Why are so many people blaming the pitching? We only gave up 4 runs, and one was set up by an error. We just didn’t have the hitting that we needed.

Dutton was the mistake. You knew UNC was going to come out swinging. You don’t throw them BP

You don’t (or shouldn’t) expect every pitcher to throw up zeros on repeat.

We didn’t get enough hits to win this game. Simple as that.

Look dude, we had 1 hit from the 4th inning on. That isn't enough to beat a good team like Unc.
it likely would have been enough had we rolled Ack back out

How often this season has Ack thrown multiple scoreless innings?
