I was there. It was my first live LSU Game. My father bought tickets for us for my 11th birthday. We rode a greyhound that dropped us off right in front of the stadium. We sat way up high but it was 50 yard line. What a comeback, so I was sold.

i remember Stokely, who was one of my all time favorite players, was high on his passes the first half. settled down the second half. i remember this game very well, my parents had half the town over for their annual NYD party. All the games were on one day then. wonderful times. wonderful.

Thanks for this. I just sent the link to my dad who recalled that he watched this game very soon after getting back from Vietnam! Im sure he wouldn't have cared if they won or lost.

Me too, was in 6th grade though, remember thinking why we struggling with this little "unknown" team! We are the mighty LSU, we just show up and these other teams will just lay down for us let us destroy them,(and some of these had guys with dark skin-see Syracuse from a few Sugar Bowls before- what up with that. Sorry that's the way it was then the short sightedness of the time around here!) probably some that attitude prevails today-see Clumson game 2012!
But good game and memories!

It's good to hear that there are others, "North of Sixty", on this Site. Nostalgia can be an Elixir.
And getting more "north" of it all the time. Haha.
I remember that game's first half as being a very tense time for Tiger fans who were expecting LSU to blow out the upstart Cowboys. But those guys came to play, and they played hard. I remember feeling very relieved when LSU finally survived Wyoming's last-minute drive as time ran out.

My uncle played for th eteam and my dad was a grad asst at the time. They share those exact sentiments. LSU's players weren't ready.

I sat in the North endzone of Tulane stadium for this game.

So did I.

And so did I. Never thought I would later attend the University of Wyoming after graduating from LSU, but I did.

I was there as well, if I remember correctly it snowed the day before, and the snow was piled up in the end zones.

Cold as Cold can be.

Wyoming had an AA guard/lb named Jerry Romig that got a lot of pregame ink as the leader of the D. Don't know how I remembered that.

Correct on Glenn Smith

Thanks for this. I remember seeing a bunch of Wyoming fans roaming around New Orleans before the game and my dad saying "Too bad they came all this way to lose." I turned to my dad at halftime and said "Wyoming is going to beat us." My dad shook his head and said, "Don't worry, we'll get them in the second half." I was in awe of him after that, and never doubted him again regarding LSU football.

I was there as well, in the north end zone. Only game I remember being colder was the Independence Bowl with LSU playing Notre Dame.

Wyoming was surprisingly tough. I thought LSU would dominate but barely won it over a very scrappy Cowboy team.

First LSU game I ever attended, drove from California with my Dad and uncle. I was 11. 2nd coldest game I've ever been to...As a side note, check out the video from the LSU-Colorado Orange Bowl. How the game has changed...Funny watching guys get hit 3 yards out of bounds or guys coming in from nowhere and laying a lick on a guy who was clearly down....and not one flag thrown...

Yeah but they were 10-0, and outside of bama the SEC wasn't what its been the past 15 years.
