I don’t care about jersey numbers either, but what do you want me to do about the football wins? I’m a middle aged guy living in Texas. I’m not in bad shape but I couldn’t make it through a single practice. I have a rebuilt knee and an achy back. I can jog a few miles until my knee hurts, but my 40 yd dash won’t impress anyone.

Get rid of this tradition. It’s stupid, no question.

Yeah, it just doesn't matter at all. The way Chark dodged punts all year shows the the number on your jersey has no significance whatsoever.

relax Francis.

When posters use the term "we," we all know they're not literally on the football team.

"We" is because we all love the Tigers and view it as OUR program. For those of us who graduated from LSU, and even those that didn't, we love OUR school and yes - it's OUR university. Not in the sense that we own it, but it's "ours" emotionally.

I don't know why some people get all snippy when other refer to the football program using "we."

I do it all the time. I'll never refer to the LSU program as "they." It's "we."

Devin Whites needs #7 not 18 if 7 is for the best player/playmaker on the team.

What he's saying is that it's illogical for someone to say that WE should be focusing on getting better as football team, because the collective WE have no control over that. WE focusing on what the team should do will not have an effect on what they actually do. All we can do as fans is discuss what THEY can do to make the football program better. What WE as FANS do is mindlessly discuss all topics. It's the off-season right now, so discussing topics such as player numbers seems appropriate all things considered.

"we" means the program. I love the Tigers. Can I call them "my" Tigers?

"We", as in fans of the program. We're not football admins, coaches, or players -- but WE nonetheless.

Really hard to understand people pushing back on this concept. We all love OUR team.

We.

DW will wear 7 on the front and 18 on the back.

Seriously, if he changed his number at all I would hope to see the #7 back on defense. More tradition on that side.

I have an idea....stop being a bitchy sour puss. Fun offseason threads don’t mean we don’t wanna win. If nothing else, they’re kind of our major bright spot right now anyway.

Not sure how you got that from my post. The point of that post was acting like where our (the fans) focus lies throughout the year matters as if it has any effect on anything
