If I were a betting man, I'd jump all over this crap.

Old news I know, but it just scrolled on SEC network, and got my blood boiling a bit.

Isn't it enough we have to listen to gump homer Finebaum every day?

Let's rock this year LSU especially, but the rest of tSEC as well to end this mindless gump mania.

One would think the Clemson beatdown would have curbed all this bs, but no...

I’ve never listened to Finebaum. I dared the Gump holding the gun to my head to pull the trigger, but he predictably pussed out.

A preseason All SEC list got your blood boiling? Man I can’t imagine how bad you melt over stuff that actually matters.

If LSU manages to score a point on Bama maybe they will have more players on the list.

i realize Bama has a lot of talent every year, so I'm not going to sit here and say "they ain't got no talent, mayne". But I think the perceived level of talent over there is highly over stated.

I would rather do just about anything else, other than compliment Saban, but I have to in this case. That team does what they have done because of him. When his players leave for the NFL, not nearly as many of them succeed as players from places like LSU and Ohio St.

Which should tell anyone with half a brain that Alabama, though very talented, is about system more than anything else. The recruiting rankings don't mean anything. The facts don't bear out that Alabama just far outweighs the LSU's of the world in actual physical talent. They are more disciplined, and they develop their offensive and defensive linemen to play as a unit, better than anyone else.

It seems our players excel on an individual basis, but don't execute team oriented basics like gap discipline. It's not that they don't practice it at all, they just don't do it as well as bama.

In terms of individual talent, Bama might have more depth, but they don't have 12 first team guys if LSU only has 3 or 4, or whatever it is. That's a huge exaggeration by the lazy media.

I don’t think 1 player on Bamas defense could start for us.

Maybe a couple would make the 2 deep

Really? Based on what exactly? Provide some numbers to support this.

Sounds more like a narrative you’ve created.

Well actually they do, otherwise this thread would not have been started

Please tell us which of their players on the preseason all SEC team don’t belong and which other (I assume mostly LSU players since you are the OP are purely objective ) should be there instead

Kudo's on your restraint. I simply can't resist with football season coming shortly and his 4 hour gump-centric show on every day. Guess I need to work on my restraint.

You HAVE to listen?

Who is forcing you?

If you have the intelligence of a rock you know Finebaum is a Gump homer but you still listen every day?

Every day?

Seriously?

I seriously loathe the Tiger Rant this time of year. Like any of this really matters? Let LSU be the sleeping giant. Let them be underrated. Let the bullseye be on the Gumps back and not ours. When the season starts all of this will be put to bed. Everyone knows how talented LSU is. We need to let go of this little brother syndrome and stop bitching and moaning about every little thing like this that’s “disrespectful”. LSU will have every opportunity to earn that respect this year on the field.

A simple look at who has the most players in the NFL, year in and year out, and how many of them are starters, and how many are all pro's, compared to Alabama. This is common knowledge. Where have you been?

Given my above statements, which are well known facts, it is not a narrative to say they are more about system. They have lots of talent, and I made a very clear point of not disputing that. But the difference between them and LSU, is not nearly as much about physical talent as it is about coaching. And no, that's not a bash on Orgeron statement. That fact is true for most coaches in America, when compared to Saban. It is what it is.

I'm clearly talking about them not actually having 12 players DESERVING of first team recognition, if LSU only has a couple. Because LSU's first and second team's can compare with anyone's in terms of talent. Alabama has guys making the POSTSEASON first team with like 40 something tackles at linebacker. It's just lazy media giving the top team all the accolades, because that's the "safe" thing to do.

But those guys, in a vacuum, without their system, don't amount to hat our players do at the next level.

Well they've recruited better than any other sec team in nearly every position.

In not shocked that they're loaded, or that the media values thier players more than other schools

I don't think it's "disrespectful", I just think it's lazy. Individual awards and team success are two different matters. No one is arguing that LSU should be considered the favorites. Until they beat Bama, they haven't earned that status. Totally different argument.

Yep, 12 gumps on the first team?

It reeks of homerism. But my main point was the final all sec team will not be anywhere near this travesty. Is that clear now to you?

I'm funny that way. What's the alternative?
Listen to hometown guys and their 'unbiased' homer opinions?

That's not really the point though. 12 gumps on the first team being ridiculous is.
