I did.

They had a better coach, better post play, better guards with more consistent outside shooting. We would have lost.

Florida certainly was the deeper team and had the better guards overall. However, they did not have better post play. Equal maybe, but not better. Don't let the success of Noah and Horford later on in the NBA cloud your judgment as to how good Davis and Thomas were for LSU that season. Davis was the SEC POY and Thomas was both the Freshman of the year and co-defensive player of the year.

Both Florida games that year were played largely without Thomas. In game 1 he was in foul trouble almost immediately and played a total of 15 minutes. He didn't play in game 2. No one can say LSU would have definitely won the national championship game, but it's hard to beat any team 3 times in one year.

I remember that game as well. I was working in Fayetteville, NC, for Camber Corporation and wore my LSU shirt the next day. My boss said he liked me until then (he did get over it, though). It was a very solemn day that day for the entire region (except for me--it was ecstatic).

The Kentucky win is probably my alltime favorite LSU basketball moment. I remember Sky Walker taking his inglorious sendoff with grace (he embraced Dale Brown) like it was yesterday.

What an awesome night! Fred's had an invitational that night and it was all you could drink for like 10 bucks. The bar was packed and the game was shown on the projector. We partied like LSU had just won the whole thing. Still a vivid memory to this day and one of my favorite days ever. Geaux Tigers

That night was probably as disappointing as I've ever been watching a LSU game.

You must not have watched many games this past season

Duke basketball loses to LSU, the Duke Lacrosse Case was national headlines and soon after Joe Alleva would force Lacrosse coach Mike Pressler to resign and along with University president Richard Broadhead, would force the team to cancel its 2006 season...all because of charges to proved to be false.

It was not the best of times for Duke. Now, they're probably laughing at us.

I don't remember if it was that night or the Texas game but I lived in Azalea Point on Brightside and when the game ended it was like all of Tiger Land erupted simultaneoulsy. We had a group over watching it and it was so loud - I'll never forget that.

I think everyone was just on pins and needles waiting for Duke to make a final run late to knock out LSU. They never did because LSU's defense and rebounding was just too much.

That's the thing, they DID make a run. They went on a 12-2 run to go up a couple of possessions right around the midway point of the second half. It made the fact that they put Duke away even that much more exciting and impressive.
