That being said, 10 runs as a mercy rule is a little bit low of a number for college baseball. Should be 15
Wouldn't get a complaint outta me if the limit were 15, that'd be perfect. 10 runs isn't as daunting of a task as it seems with the right team is my point. It'd be a sad day if we had a rubber match against an Ole Miss or Tenn called after 7 because it's 12-2, knowing the team we have, and also that those clubs have. That's my point.

Not that stats matter much but how will this affect guys trying to win awards? Padding stats? How many innings will be missed for the year? How many full games does that equal?

Yeah I'm sure Crews and Tommy Tanks love the idea of giving up at bats in blowouts. Where LSU is already up 10 so guys are raking against shitty pitching that day.

Father Time is undefeated.
I'm just not offended by a 10 run rule after 7 innings. Boat is asking why not after 5? Or 4? They didn't propose a 10 run rule after 5 innings. Crazy comebacks like that have happened before. But with only 6 outs left? That's an extreme rarity.

Y'all do realize that if LSU is up 11 runs in the 8th inning that Josh Stevenson is going to pinch hit for Crews, right?

Cool. I’m not really for or against the rule. I just think it’s funny that people think this will actually be a big deal and will come into play every weekend.

Bet those Tenn losers lobbied for this. Either them or the fAggies.

And why do you want to take experience away from Stevenson?

Like when Crews hit a 2 run HR in the 9th when LSU was up 19-9 against Vanderbilt last season?

It’s not about the result for me. It’s about what it means to the players. They want to play 9 innings. Coaches want it too. Changing the game for TV or the fans sucks. It’s not about you.

Good points. So I can assume that you are against the 10 run rule for midweek games against Northwestern State, right?

That rule doesn’t exist unless agreed upon by the managers before the game right?
In that case, coaches are protecting players especially for the shite team that’s about to pitch their backup second baseman.

Like it or not if we want the sport to grow we have to take tv into consideration.
Like I said I don’t care either way. I enjoy watching LSU play baseball no matter the score. We are just making a big deal out of something that just won’t come into play often at all.

Remember when Doughty got injured last year in the last regular season game and LSU was leading by double digits in the 9th inning? He wasn’t even playing in the field when the regionals started.
Posted on 2/7/23 at 1:35 pm to geauxtigers33
TV still won’t make a ratings impact even if college games are 2 hours. You’re fooling yourself if you think that’s what’s stoping the game from “growing.”

Remember when Beloso got hurt before a game even started? Maybe we shouldn’t play at all. frick off with that reasoning Choup. You don’t want QBs hit either I bet.

I understand your points. I don’t disagree. I’m just not real worked up about it. Sort of meh for me.
