Played HS ball with MS State's Hunter Hines and Ross Highfill good chance he goes there. Although he likes to play for the best so LSU has a shot.

This isn't surprising news,he has been portal bound for a few weeks now.His family wants him closer to home.State and A&M are his top two with LSU and Vandy next up.That is what his dad told me last week.The family is wonderful people,have known them for years.We will get at shot at him,but if I were to call it today it would be State.
They have a chance to be elite next year if they land this kid and add a plus arm,so it would not be as surprising of a get for them even with how the last two seasons have went for Lemonis.A number of his close friends are on the team and it is still an elite program.We'll get him in for visit however.

But it leaves you to wonder why he didn't just do that out of HS. I get that Stanford is Stanford and all, you get the good and the bad and obviously it is time to move on. It just seems crazy that we would jump ship with all of his success there to play one season at MSU.
Hopefully he gives JJ and the guys a nice long look.

That's just crazy. He was the best player in the state.
Huge oversight to have a kid from MS being heavily recruited by Stanford and you're trailing in your own backyard. I mean he raked immediately and would have started anywhere that he went.

They need a couple of pitchers,but they add Montgomery to a lineup with Jordan and Hines then you're talking about having a shot at an elite lineup.

He didn't really blow up till after his junior year,it was too late by then.He probably would have picked Stanford anyway even if State or LSU went hard on him from the start.Stanford and Vandy were his final two.

Probably the leader in the clubhouse the way his pops sounded last week.He'll take some visits and this will be a pretty fast process.He could pick a school by next weekend.

SEC baseball is way more fun when LSU and State are both playing at a high level at the same time.The og programs of the SEC.
