It seems to me that if you’re hit in the helmet, your head will snap back immediately rather than going forward as it would if you’re hit in the chest.

Harris’ head definitely snapped back and that looked like targeting to me though I get it was close. I think the safety got the bottom of the face mask.

Seemed like Castell should have been ejected for that one.

The one call the refs actually got right.

Was textbook targeting. Yet wasn’t even the most egregious call of the night.

No one knows what targeting is, it’s like the NFL catch.

If he hit his face mask with the crown of his helmet it is targeting. If not it’s not. I couldn’t tell from the replays

launching with the crown of the helmet at any part of the body. Even if it wasn't head or neck, still targeting. The shitty refs didn't even know the rule book

Crown of his helmet 100% hit Harris’ facemask. Was definitely targeting.

Clean hit. The noncall/timeout by UK to negate a false start by 89 in OT. Wow. Now thats corrupt

I initially thought it was targeting but after seeing the replay, it wasn't.

The refs got that right.

Overall, and I'm not one to blame the officials, but the officials in this game sucked all game long. They were beyond terrible.

It looked close but his head movement on the replay suggests he got hit on the bottom of the face mask. I’m not sure why he exited the game, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he got a hit to the chin.

One of the worst was them calling UK’s WR for no catch before the FG. I know he didn’t get the first, but his foot was in by a fricking mile and the LJ was there. They got the review right, but that was just so fricking bad for a P4 ref.

The multiple blocks in the back on the punt return. The end of first half TD. The holds on Princewell all night. Nic Anderson dropping a ball that was ignored for a first on a TD drive. The ignored false start in OT. The UK terrible no catch call.

This crew was fricking atrocious.

But Castell, who is a key player for them, would have been out, if targeting

He did do a great job of holding on to the football despite the hit

Harris was a defenseless player and even though the safety didn’t make helmet to helmet contact his intent was to peelay the WR and launched

He wasn’t hit in the helmet. He was hit in the chest. It’s football. Grow a pair of balls.

Boy, you’re right.
Where are my balls?
I saw something different than you.
Damn, give me a minute to rethink many things in my life.
The first is why I even bother. You’ve got all the answers anyhow

This is what everyone who says “it wasn’t targeting” misses.

It doesn’t have to be with the crown, doesn’t have to be to the head, the rule reads to the head or shoulder area of a defenseless player, and in that case Harris is the definition of a defenseless player.

100% targeting. I don’t like the rule, but that’s it. Dude should have been out.

Just one of the many questionable calls/non calls tonight.
