Despite the first half last night I'm still confident

I try to follow the mantra in everyday life that things are rarely as bad you think they are and rarely as good as you think they are. Despite the dominant win last week, an unemotional review of the game showed some inconsistencies with both the OL and Leavitt. That was on full display in the first half last night.
But here's why I'm not as concerned as I might be in other years. LSU looks to have a great defense. Yes, that will be tested much more in SEC play. But in two games the first unit has not just been good. Its been dominant. If you have a good defense you have a chance to beat anyone anywhere.
With that as the foundation, LSU has to become more consistent offensively. That is where my confidence in Kiffin comes in. The numbers simply speak for themselves. In 6 years at Ole Miss Kiffin never had an offense worse than 3rd in the SEC. His offenses were great at Alabama. I have no reason to doubt this LSU offense won't be really good as the season goes along. There is just simply nothing in Kiffin's recent past suggest otherwise. And if the defense is as good as it looks to be, LSU will be just fine.

In my experience of watching LSU
Our NC teams don’t struggle with cupcakes early… and all of our “problem teams” do.
3-1 in September is a good outcome for us.

The 2003 national title team beat Western Illinois 35-0. The 2007 LSU team was in a dog fight with Tulane the first half.

I don’t like the fact he threw 3 picks, that being said, I don’t expect our O linemen to face another unconventional defense scheme this year. When that many people aren’t lined up, they can react faster to the ball. It’s not much different than a triple option offense

In 2003 LSU led 1-AA Western Illinois 6-0 with less than 1:00 to go in the first half (LSU got a TD with 48 seconds left to make it 13-0 at half).
In 2007 LSU led Tulane 10-9 at HT
In 2019 LSU led NW State 17-14 with less than 5:00 to go in the 1st half

This is just a foolish excuse.
Is the 3-3, unconventional? Perhaps….
But the idea that it gave La tech some advantage in getting off the ball is a bit over stated.
If the 3-3 was some world beater defense and had some great advantage that could neutralize or even mitigate the effectiveness of an offensive line, more teams would use it. It would be unconventional if it was dominant. It would just be the way you play Defense.
It’s not what they are used to. They aren’t used to it, because most teams don’t use it…. Why do you think most teams don’t use it?….
