The butterfly effect of Michigan flipping this guy from LSU is pretty big. If he makes it to campus, Kelly probably gets a little bit of grace with the Nuss injury and Underwood having to go in prematurely as a true freshman and the boosters/admin would be more patient waiting for him to develop. Kelly and Sloan would still be here right now.
Instead Michigan flips him, the boosters get pissed off, buy the top transfer class which Kelly has an epic failure with, and it becomes all too clear Kelly is not going to succeed here, and they waste no time kicking him out and going after Kiffin. I don't think anyone of that happens without Michigan flipping Underwood.
As an added bonus, Underwood looks absolutely awful so on top of getting a better coach, we dodged a bust of a recruit.

Hope things turn out well for him. He's probably in a pretty good place financially from his UM $$ but it does bring up a good point about choosing a place where you can develop as a QB if you want to play at the next level.
