No, I’m just not sure of all the different contracts you have to sign throughout the process of trying out and playing on an NFL team. I’m sure you’re an expert on it though. That’s why I was asking
Players get compensated for minicamp participation, so there are written agreements involved.
There is a clear difference between an NFL player contract vs a contract with an NFL team, and the SEC’s lawyers know this… yet the terminology they landed on for the new bylaw (that they threw together specifically to block LSU) was “contract with an NFL team”.
They hastily tried to make a rule to prevent a specific outcome… and this is what happens when you don’t have your shite together.
There are several class of 2022 players in the SEC right now who signed “contracts with NFL teams”.
Sports pundits are retards. Been saying it from the start — this is not going to go the SEC’s way. They already started shifting the tone of their narrative in the 2 days leading up to the LA ruling if you didn’t notice.

All lsu did was ask a court about eligibility and then got threatened with expulsion.
I have a feeling every sec team has done this
How dare LSU question the NCAA/SEC authority, but cool if everyone else does.
Which other schools were actively trying to sign players that the SEC said they didn’t want playing even after the rule was made?

Are you talking about the NCAA’s rules or the SEC’s rules?

I’m talking about the SEC’s bylaw that they just made up 2 weeks ago.
Why would they have done that if there were an NCAA rule lol?

The rule passed what Thursday ? Please, not even sure you can say LSU was actively trying to sign them at that point.
Before Thursday under oath the players named ole miss and South Carolina

You said the NCAA’s lawyers until I asked the question then you edited your post to say the SEC’s lawyers.

The SEC didn’t create that rule on Thursday. They did it on August 25th. And it’s widely reported that LSU spent all of yesterday trying to figure out if they should roster these players.

Was that before or after the SEC’s rule?

It’s not about playing them it’s also being listed on the roster.

That was a mistake but shouldn’t confuse which bylaw I’m referencing when I say

You want to engage the substance or just keep being a pedant?

I was just trying to get clarity on what you were talking about. All I’m saying is that LSU is currently playing by the exact same rules as everyone else in the SEC, which goes against what the OP is saying.

I’ve an SEC guy since the mid 70’s. Sankey has been the absolute worst commissioner the conference has ever had. Now that he’s decided to drag LSU through the mud on Federal court I say screw that guy and whomever is supporting him.

There is a binary distinction between signing a UDFA contract and participating in tryouts while having your room and meals provided. Unfortunately for LSU, that’s where the line is drawn.
You guys can’t seriously be arguing they’re the same thing

You’re missing the point that the binary distinction does not matter if the bylaw itself fails to make the distinction.

Oh please explain how Cole Hutson is not and NFL player and Zxavian Harris is?

I’m saying that if we reference the actual language of the bylaw in question, there is a legitimate legal angle of attack to the contrary.

Harris signed a UDFA contract to be a member of a team.
Hutson participated in tryouts.
That’s it.

I'm not understanding where the idea of even talking about kicking someone out is coming from. Teams have literally been caught cheating and did not get kicked out. These players were fighting for eligibility. How can anyone even begin to suggest kicking out another school over that? Especially when Alabama previously did it. My goodness we live in such bs times.

I sure hope you are correct! He is not only bad for LSU but has anybody noticed that the SEC hasn't won the Natty in 3 years? Big 10 is the #1 conference now according to the talking heads. Stankey has led the shite show parade!!

Harris is less of a pro than Hutson. Also once again this distinction does not matter because the bylaw itself does not make the distinction.
Idk how many times I have to say it. Legally the distinction does not matter if the bylaw doesn’t say “UDFA contract to be a member of a team”… which it doesn’t… because Sankey is an inept buffoon.

The testimony Sankey gave not being able to define what a "pro" is will be a big problem for SEC. All the anti's are celebrating now but in the end I think this turns out well for LSU.
