That dude is a beast. Gonna be hard with Emory and Davis as freshman.

Not really. We regularly feed at least 3 backs. He will play day one at some capacity.

I think we will miss on both guys. We're kinda crowded at RB. A lot of people forget that we have Chris Curry.

I completely agree that 3 elite backs is about where you would like to be with injuries and all. Now keeping the depth behind them from transferring will be the issue or nonissue depending on how the staff see’s if but I’m sure they would prefer to have them all stay. Curry, Fournette and CEH. I think all will be solid but nothing like the other 3. I honestly want to see more of Fournette this year though because I think he’s going to be a very good back for LSU. You can just see that he sees the field well and runs with some passion.

Talent alone the two Freshman have him but I think he’s the next best back we have on the team even though CEH performed well last year. Fournette started to show himself toward the end of the year. He’s great out of the backfield and I think LSU should use him like the saints do with Kamara. I think he will surprise people given the chance. I would bring the freshman on slower this year and let them see the field and learn to set up their blocks, learn how to block on 3rd downs or PA plays then slowly bring them in more and more. Use the other 3 for the first 5 games mostly then let the freshman get some time also and when we have a blowout type of game.

Then if they earn more time in those instances, you give them more carries. To me Fournette has earned his carries and he should be the starter come the first game. Then if he’s not on I would quickly go to the next guy maybe one of the freshman with Curry and CEH given them spells. But to me Fournette is more talented then people want to give him credit for. Simply because he was seen as someone who was just given a scholarship bc of his name. I think he wants to prove that to be false and make his own money at the next level. I believe he can and will also.

The others will have plenty of time to get theirs. Seeing a guy like Fournette scoring TD’s shouldn’t bother them one bit. As long as they get their touches. Keep them fresh for their 2nd and 3rd years. Then let them bust it wide open in that 3rd season. Hey as long as the offense is scoring points I actually don’t care who touches the ball. I would just like to see what he does with his opportunities. GT

I swear this guy has the worst luck in the world. every time he'd get a rare carry, the o-line would botch the play and he'd get tackled in the backfield.

Or they knew he didn’t have skill set to run a route and wasn’t trusted for pass protection yet, so the defense sold out for the run

Curry doesn’t have burst.

He’ll be 4th in the rotation next year.

If that mean we miss then it means UGA will miss to with their crowded backfield. But I like our chances to land one better than UGA

True but he has size, physicality, and is more of a one cut kinda guy. Not all RB's are built the same.

Nothing against Curry but I think Fournette will get more touches than him and Curry will be 5th.

I agree. I don't get the hype with curry.
He is just too slow to be an every down back

I've thought Lanard was a player for awhile now. Not a big-time guy but sure seems to find some nice yardage on almost every run attempt...

LSU running backs 2019:

Clyde Edwards-Helaire is so underrated by this board. So what he was a local 3 star. He had a very good season last year. He took a large step forward from his freshman season. It is obvious he works hard at his craft. It is more than realistic that he will take another step forward his junior year.

Unless one of the freshmen comes in and is head and shoulders the best back on the team, Clyde is the starter next year and it isn't close.

Next season I would expect CEH, Emery, and Ty Davis to receive a pretty even share of the carries- assuming the freshman are as advertised.

I think we've seen what Lanard has to offer. He's a reliable backup and will once again fill that role next season.

Tough/too early to make any prediction on Curry. He is still only entering his 2nd season. As another poster stated, he appeared to have some bad luck on his limited carries last year. I could see his career arc looking something like that of Darrel Williams. And that would be great in my opinion.

Imagining adding Evans to the rotation in 2020 is exciting and all, but it's also an exercise in futility until he's actually on the team.

Of course we would be thrilled to sign him.

Doesn't matter if we are crowded at rb or not. One of them will get redshirt ed for sure, then you can pretty much bank on these caliber of players going pro after their Jr seasons anyway. So, there will be a chance for all of them to be the feature back st some point in thermic careers...it just matters how bad they want to be an LSU tiger, and if they want to be a tiger bad enough, then they will be willing to wait their turn. If not, then we don't want them in our program anyway. We want talented players that WANT to be LSU Tigers first, more than anything else. We are blessed to be in the situation we are in right now regardless, where we dont necessarily have to get a rb, we are already loaded at the position, and it seems like we are like that at damn near every position besides the offensive line to an extent, which I believe coach O and staff will address here shortly. Geaux Tigers.

Who said he would be a every down back and I don't really see where he's been hyped all that much, I mean freshman RB's go through this having to get used to the speed of the game and all of that at the college level. Edwards-Helaire had a difficult frosh season, he was hit a lot in the backfield and at the scrimmage line his freshman season, and could hardly do anything as he looked rather slow, but he's improved a lot as we know by now. But Curry has improved too, he had a nice spring game running over tacklers and I mean that will be his style anyways. He's not a speed back and people already knew this, but rather a power back that will run over or through would be tacklers.
