I'd like to think a guy with his skill set would. Miles offered Trindon and I think McCluster is far more effective.

When I look at him and Livas from La Tech I wish we took a chance on some kids who are flat out play makers.

or demaris johnson

possibly DJ Banks (jury's still way out on him, but he's Tulane's #2 offensive focal point RIGHT NOW)

I was going to mention him. If Johnson didn't get an offer, McCluster wouldn't.

Holiday isn't a valid example. Miles was just honoring Saban's greyshirt offer with him.

I think we sincerely thought he wouldn't make the grades. He was the best WR in the nation his senior year, IMO. I doubt we just passed on him for TT.

Bama is huge too and they do well defensively. They aren't too slow. I know this post was about an offensive player though.

Miles has been pretty shitty with judging who would make the grades and who wouldn't. Lacy. Sentimore. Why didn't we get Harris?

Is it not possible to contact the school to find out exactly where grades are so the player doesn't mislead or anything? I guess that could be abused though.

well don't forget there are standardized test scores that can be good or bad, and correspondence courses, etc

everyone, including USM, didn't think brown would qualify. he went there b/c they were going to offer him as a partial qualifier (SEC schools can't offer this). but somehow he DID get qualified

Miles has been pretty good about this actually. I blame the compliance department (or whoever is in charge at LSU at making sure players take the necessary courses) for Pratt and Loadholt.

Lacy wasn't offered for a plethora of reasons. Sentimore was offered in January and LSU definitely gave him something to think about in the last few weeks before NSD. That was a case of a talented player being overlooked because of bigger names (Campbell, McFarland), until he really stepped it up in his senior season, especially in the playoffs.

Bajoie and Wilson, along with Willie Ferrell, all had their offers revoked and were not factors in the staff missing out on guys.

As for DeAndre Brown, it's a little confusing, but I think that USM managed to convince Brown that he could come to them as a partial qualifier. That's of course a complete lie since they are not in D-2, but I guess the truth is not as important as what a player believes is the truth.

The only glaring mistake was with Dez Bryant over Benton.

this thread is about playmaking smurfs, not qualifying

But playmaking smurfs can't run up the middle for 2 yards on first down. They also try to make plays when returning punts instead of making a fair catch every time.

So why exactly do we need them?
