Fong predicts if the DT does sign it would be with Texas
I’m in the minority, but I want McKinley badly in purple and gold. These type of physical specimens don’t grow on trees.
This isn’t a Sopsher out of shape situation. This is a 17 year old learning how to use his body.
Reminds me so much of former Bama DT Raekwon Davis who I got to see up close as a high schooler several times.

I think the negative perception around McKinley is mostly due to him not playing anything close to a 5-star level this season, but people also realize the potential there and our EXTREME need to sign some young interior Dline guys right now.
It's great if Wingo/Smith/Guillory come back for 1 more year but that's all we're getting them for, 2025 and beyond is a huge hole on the interior of the Dline right now and there's quick path to playing time then for anyone willing to jump on board between now and then.

This is dead on. He’s got tons of physical traits, but the guy is not a 5 star. He will need 2 years of development to meet the hype. Of course we want him, but he isn’t the instant impact guy you expect with his current ranking.

Us losing high profile LA kids has much more to do with NIL than coaches. A few years ago, you would never see LA kids leave the state for TX or ATM. NIL has changed the game for those two programs.

The pic of him with our coaches was pretty telling of he ain’t signing with us.

Players are ranked on potential and future projection. He can need 2 years of development and still be a 5 star.
You don't have to be a freshman starter to be a 5 star. In fact, few are.

And? Maybe that turns out differently with better coaching and development. Wiggins was recruited by one guy, coached by another for a season and then had basically no coach this year.
It’s looking like we will have a new DL coach no matter what, so hopefully guys will be developed and we will get some much needed consistency at that spot.
