To the dumbasses in this thread trying to compare what Saban does year in and year out to what Miles did with Patrick Miller know this. Miller still had an offer and a scholarship, the problem was that it appeared as though he could not early enroll. He could have come in the summer with the rest of the recruits. The porter situation was simply a guy qualified that no one thought he would.
For those of you even thinking Saban is the same as Miles, frick you. It's not even close. Miles genuinely cares about these kids. Saban uses them in a way that he thinks benefits him and him alone.

Patrick Miller? Trying to enroll early. No.
uh, wut?
Was his scholly pulled after LSU got a commit from a higher ranked player (Gunner)?
No diff. Just different deadlines

When has Miles, or any coach, pulled a scholarship on signing day?
His scholly was not pulled. He was offered a grey shirt. That means he would have had the same scholly as Landon Collins is going to get but it just starts 4 months later.

No. His scholly was not pulled. Are you serious? He just could not early enroll. We only had like 6 spots for that. If all 25 wanted to early enroll and we could only take 5, are we pulling 20 scholarships? Of course not. Plus, you always take the QB in an early enroll situation because he takes longer to develop. No one should question that. The problem is that Kiel screwed us.

Question: are the school required at any time prior to NSD to disclose how many scholly offers they have made? I notice on Rivals and other sites there is a column for "Offered", but didn't know if this is just information that is volunteered by the prospects or from some other source.
I know it's not as easy as just saying there should be this requirement; but maybe this should be looked at. Also think an early signing period is needed.

Both this article and the Heath Evans article should be sent to every parent of every Top 250 recruit every year.

So, he thinks he will be part of this class until 2 other guys that were offered call Saban Tuesday night and say they're coming and he then gets told he has to wait and can't be part of this class even though he committed months ago while the other guys came in at the last minute?
If you want to grayshirt a guy, do it before Wednesday morning.
As for the Porter situation, it was a shame. LSU has not signed more than 25 since and has made it right. Saban signed 26 yesterday.
By the way, grayshirts back count. How is this kid going to back count to this class when you signed 26 and are already over? Hoping to process some more before classes start in August to make room?
He never would have made it to Alabama and he knew it.

One kid got processed yesterday on his way to the podium and had to scramble and sign with Arkansas.
Atleast when you post post the facts.
"The Arkansas thing came along this week," Kyles added. "Before signing day, he had said he was going to go on and go to Arkansas."
That right there states he knew before signing day and that he was going to pick Ark on signing day per what he told people. Nothing got yanked but I guess you need the drama.
Also Shane Youngblood is reporting that he and his coach have kwown for two weeks now and som eof it has to do with the fact he would not have been cleared to play in the fall because of the injury. He is only 6 weeks removed from the surgery.

Awesome read. Alabama will fall like Rome, and that's when Nick Saban will take off to another team to continue his debauchery.

For years, Saban has treated college football like a cutthroat business. He's skirted recruiting rules, danced around scholarship limitations and been surrounded by more career ending injuries to third-string players than any coach in the history of organized athletics.

How would he have backcounted to a class that had 26? The grayshirt was another lie. He knew it and moved on. He could have accepted the grayshirt offer and been hung out to dry, but he is better at math than Saban or you and decided to actually go to college. If his was decided earlier this week, good for him. The fact that the grayshirt was offered is a joke.
Or, is he expecting Saban to hold a spot for him in next year's class as a 3 star lineman? Riiight.

Considering none of the programs run by Nick Saban, including the one in BR, have "fallen" I think that's wishful thinking.
And he's going into his 6th season at UA now so let go of the "He's gonna jump ship!!" rants.

Directly from article in OP
quote:Just where are you getting your information? Why was he wearing a UA hat?
After already jerking an offer within the last month to Georgia running back Justin Taylor -- who ended up signing with Kentucky on Wednesday -- Alabama yanked a scholarship offer from Philon within the last week, and possibly as late as Wednesday morning.
(It's unclear when the offer was yanked because Philon, who was visibly upset, refused to speak with the media. His coach, Kerry Stevenson, who should have been outraged over one of his players being jerked around like that, instead said he wasn't sure when the offer was pulled and blamed the SEC's new rule for putting UA in "a bind." Thanks for looking out, coach.)
Philon had been committed to Alabama since September and even wore a UA hat to his Signing Day ceremony at Vigor on Wednesday. But when it came time to sign, the three-star-rated defensive lineman quietly left the stage without signing a national letter of intent.

quote:I dont buy this completely but there's something to it. I have direct knowledge of the Houston Bates recruitment. Houston "committed" to an offer that wasnt really a clear or commitable offer. This is how it was explained to me by at St Paul's coach. So whatever it is that Miles (or other schools for that matter) offer to some of these kids apparently has some gray area and some wiggle room for the school to back out of if necessary.
Les Miles didn't do a thing to Storm Johnson. Storm Johnson and his crazy arse daddy tried to press LSU into a scholarship before they were ready to give him an offer, to the point where the kid told people on the record that he was committed to LSU
with no scholarship offer
he's nuts

There is nothing sadder than LSU fans who feel the need to rationalize Bama's current superiority by atrributing it to some vague moral failing.
Coaches are paid millions of dollars to win championships. An integral component of winning championships is assembling elite recruiting classes. That's what Saban does, using tactics which are apparently entirely legal. I don't give a shite if his strategy offends the fragile moral sensitivities of certain individuals. And I wouldn't (and don't) care if Miles were to use the same tactics (and he has at times).

Shocking
So your saying $abun is a LIAR
I had no idead
Alabama "The University" merely exist to give a bunch of folks something to look forward to in an otherwise bland state. They invented cheating. they have been buying championships for a long time. $abun is a hired gun doing what they hired him to do. Oh hand, if for one minute you think cheating is not going on @ bama and elsewhere........I have an island i would like to sell you.

SABAN OUTRECRUITS EVERYBODY CAUSE HE'S A FREAKING GENIUS!! LOSING HIS COORDINATORS EVERY YEAR DOES NOTHING 2 HURT RECRUITING. SO HE TAKES 2 MANY RECRUITS THEN HAS 2 HURT A COUPLE KIDS FEELINGS. BETTER THAN STANDING BY RECRUITS JUST 2 HAVE THEM BOLT ON U AT THE LAST MINUTE AND END UP WITH A SHORT CLASS. HATE ON SABAN ALL U WANT BUT HE NOT ONLY DOES IT THE RIGHT WAY BUT THE SMART WAY. IN THE END THE KID CAN GET INTO ANOTHER COLLEGE IF HIS SCHOLARSHIP IS PULLED BUT THE UNIVERSITY CAN'T ALWAYS GET ANOTHER RECRUIT WHEN THEY SWITCH AT THE LAST MINUTE. ASK LES MILES IF U DON'T BELIEVE ME

Ah, No!
I dont think you understand how this Internet thing works
quote:
Patrick Miller was in Baton Rouge ready to enroll at LSU for the spring semester. It never happened.
After thinking he had a scholarship with LSU in the spring, he was told he'd have to pay his own way for a semester because the Bengal Tigers were at the 85-player scholarship limit. The four-star offensive lineman loaded up and moved to Auburn.
Miller's case was way worse than Philon. The kid had already moved to town. Sorry, Miles is no better than Saban in this regard. (or in game prep, fwiw)
