How hard is LSU working to flip James Simon if at all? Serious question
Not very. I have someone pretty close to that one. Frank is still in communication but seems like it’s more of a “keep the line open” type of thing.

He will play both at LSU. He will line up at RB for 1st downs and will line up in the slot for certain 3rd down situations.
____________
Play him at both. Just get him on the field. Time will tell if he can take the beating his body will get, but kid has crazy talent.

He had to. He couldn’t hold on to the ball as a running back

Eric played RB his first year at LSU.

Use Berry as a weapon in any way we see fit. I have great faith in our coaches putting our talent in position to make plays.

both eric martin and herman fontenot can to LSU as rbs and were converted to wr after their freshman season. they were quite a wr tandum.

They were both like 195 coming out of high school.
He still has this year to add weight.
Berry might be a little smaller when he arrives at lsu.

Or use him like our ultimate '19 weapon CEH. His effectiveness would've been minimized greatly if purely lined up in the slot. The matchups are better as a rb. TEs and RBs are the matchups offenses ideally have the advantage at.

Much like Kamara & McCaffrey gave LBs & safeties nightmares coming out of the backfield or motioned out to the slot, Berry is also sure-fire mismatch.
Why line Berry up against actual corners with similar speed & better coverage ability? Sure he would win some matchups as a WR, but he'd win more as a RB vs LBs/S.
Plus, he's a dynamic runner with vision, quickness & agility. Why take that skill out of his playmaking bag? He's harder to defend when you don't know if he's gonna take a hand-off & juke you out of your cleats ...or beat you on a wheel, dig or seam route.

Right. There are just so many things you can do when you have a rb like berry.

Ideally would be used in this manner, but you are dealing with a guy with a Chalky Dawg Meter of 10.0 (Harvin) and a guy with a CDM of 3.0-4.0 (Berry) who wants to run around you, not through you. Until that CDM goes up, he is better suited in space as a WR running with the ball imo

You don’t have to if you get him the ball close to the line of scrimmage. I don’t know about ‘26 and beyond, but next year, why take Jackson off the field. With Jackson and Durham back next year, I bet Berry winds up with more catches than carries in ‘25, however that looks.

I would hope they use berry properly with the talent that will already be on campus.
Throw him screens out the backfield. Line two backs up and throw berry the swing screen.

This is the best way to use him. I actually started this thread out of boredom. Hit my personal record for down votes. Now if Les was still coaching, he would definitely mis use him.

Bring back Cam Cameron to be an analyst.

Why not let him get to campus first??

You know it’s a bad take when cbree88 agrees with you

Oh shite. Wasn't really paying attention. This was one of those topics that got posted because I was bored. Football hadn't started yet and everything that could be said was said over and over.
But he could be a fallback option In case we lose wr or they get hurt. But we don't need him trying to go up the middle. Have to get him in space in order to use his cutting and speed.
