Everyone just chill out. According to multiple sources (ok DD is not really a good source , and Buddy knows about as much as we do ), the kid will be enrolled at LSU next fall. We have to just hope for the best now with the clearinghouse and his last course.

If he passed those tests, I would just enroll at LSU now

The clearinghouse is for scholarships (money_ right?

I don't know that much about it, but it seems we are always waiting on them to clear...

Would be nice if Benton could get an early start on his grades, take a lighter load..go 4.5 years

He couldnt enroll in the Spring due to Clearinghouse. From what I understand he to took and passed all the course work that was required of him.

Clearinghouse can be incredibly slow at times, especially in this case. From what I understand (And I could be wrong). You have to consider that they are evaluating his high school courses and grades, his Prep School courses and grades and whatever course work he took at Bastrop and those grades. To do this they dont just look to see if he passed or not. They must evaluate whether the course covered the required material and they must assess the validity of the tests compared to the course work. They must also investigate testing conditions and evaluate if any form of cheating or other form of advantage was available. So you can see how this could take a while.

To sum it up, he passed the courses he took, now he just has to wait for Clearinghouse to clear him to play. He should be ready to go this summer. So just sit tight and stop all the fussing. We waited 2 years so far, whats a few more months.

You sound like you know a good deal about the situation. If he passed all of the tests and recquired work, than that is all we can ask of him and he should be at LSU soon.

Hopefully, he can learn the playbook quickly because we can't redshirt him ( he will have 4 years to play 4). He seems like he can make an instant impact.

If I am not mistaken, after a player goes to a prep school such as Hargrave, they cannot be redshirted when they go to a university such as LSU. So they have 4 years of eligability to play football.

for the same reason he cant get on campus since graduating highschool. i hate to talk bad about lsu recruits/players, but isnt it funny he'll be here "in june." i mean this kid has had tons of chances to get in and hasnt.

i have officially written him off in my mind and wont believe he'll be here "at the beginning of next semester" until his arse is in practice and living on campus. its sad-- he couldve gone to JUCO, and been at LSU now, but he was above that.

again, i dont want to talk so horribly about an LSU kid, but his extreme amount of talent has been wasted by a kid who cant use get into school. i mean why on earth would he be any closer now to qualifying now than when he got out of highschool? i wish him the best, but seems like a lost cause

All you need to know about them is that they take forever to make decisions.

if we get randle, i wouldn't mind benton coming in next year so we don't have to play 4 frosh. it would be better to redshirt one of them.

Prep school doesn't take away any eligibility. You only start to lose eligibility once you enroll in college.
