re: Why 70% of top recruits come from the south

I'll go back to subby's original question, why are there more top players from around here. The answer may be that professional athletics is one way out of any small town that is easy to visualize.

That's the same reason that so many great rock bands come from working class English communities. There are few ways out, but it is easy to see yourself as a rock star. A kid in Massachusetts may be able to visualize his or her exit through university research, because there are more than a hundred universities in that state.

It is the basic drive to succeed in life by choosing a path where you can imagine yourself succeeding.

I'm responding to the posters who are talking about selective breeding during slavery made black athletes who they are today and coming back with my own question on why are players such a Manziel so athletic. Is he part of selective breeding? Better yet explain Ryan Swope's 4.34 40.

Jackasses. Great black athletes are not bred or born. They become great by hard work and training. All great athletes have the same story as all great musicians, they trained their bodies and minds through thousands of hours of reps and practice.

Some of u are making this way too complicated..kids in the south just simply take football way more seriously than kids up state somewhere. It aint much else to do around here but throw a ball around.

As for the black/white comparison..alot of black kids feel the need to perfect the sport with dreams of actually making it big..where as the majority of the white kids see it as a hobby and wont take it as seriously..
