yet they couldnt play in the SEC,

i didn't say that

i said neither would have been superstars in the SEC

they ran spread offenses in a conference without defense and put up big stats

to be fair, i don't think they would have been superstars in teh big10 either, and possibly not the big east or pac10

the big12 is not that great

2-team conference with a huge gap in talent and little defense outside of those 2 teams

Nope.

Bradford has an average arm and looked uncomfortable all night against UF in the NC game. He was never rushed consistently in the Big 12. In fact, Texas was really the only team that ever got after him for a full game and most of his worst games were against Texas.

It's pretty easy to be a QB when you can just stand back that for an hour an wing it around.

Then, BYU got pressure on him and he got hurt... played Texas, happened again.

Sam Bradford is an incredibly accurate QB. He'd be successful in any league, and if he can keep that shoulder in place will be in the NFL. Where they play Defense.

I've never seen Oliver play. I think Garret will get his shot, but not for two more years.

Slow & OBU,

I gotta disagree. Those guys have everything I would want in a college QB if I was putting a team together. Do I think they would be as explosive in the SEC? That's THE debatable part of it. Bradford would be amazing in a Florida scheme; hell, colt would be too. Either would have excelled in an Alabama offense because of them being so freaking balanced (I think these two are much more of threat then Alabama's current QB) plus they would have the D to be able to take some chances. UGA's offense would be good for them; Spurrier could do great things with Bradford I think.

I agree their path in the Big 12 was easier, but they were great leaders, heady guys, tons of talent and would succeed just about anywhere IMO.

McCoy and Bradford played in spread systems not pro systems.
Playing in spreads like they did has pro scouts worried about them playing in the NFL.

To answer your question, yes we need a pro style qb but with all the spreads in hs, they are hard to find.

Bridgewater wants to play in a pro offense not a spread. I hope we play more pro and less spread this year.

I'd like us to not recruit a long snapper, tight end or kicker this year and instead recruit three or four qb's. (four and three stars are fine) That would give is six or seven on the roster and you think we could find a starter out of that many qb's.

Our problem isn't recruiting quality qb's, but developing them once they're on campus.

i disagree, he made some great throws in tight coverage that game. his WR's were exposed, they were punked by UF's DB's, go back and watch the tape and you will see he made some awesome throws that game

Matt Flynn threw for 2400 yds, 21 TD's and 11 INT's in Crowton's system in 07.

Maybe it's just me, but Sam is lightyears ahead of what Flynn was at the same time as a QB. I could easily see Bradford throwing 3,400 yds and 35 TD's, 10 INT's in the SEC for LSU's 07 team which would put him in the Matt Stafford level of "SEC superstar". Doucet, Lafell, Byrd, Dixon, and Toliver would ensured that.

But to your point, I agree that Bradford would not throw for 50 TD's in the SEC like he did in the Big 12 in 08.

Agreed. I can't even think of any pro-style SEC QB's that put up gaudy numbers after Tim Couch and Rex Grossman.

I don't like our QBs running the option play, they get hurt too many times. JL got hurt 2 years ago and last year JJ got hurt running. Look what happened to Colt McCoy against AL. Both Mauck and Flynn also got hurt running that damn option. Someone tell Crowton and Miles QBs get killed when they run in the SEC.

if there are any 5 star pro style QB's who would like to play for LSU, I will bet you anything, that if they dont have any felonies and they have the ACT and grades, they will get an offer if they come to summer camp.

needed is a word that doesnt work when you are talking about 5 star players. There are few five star pro style QBs.
Everyone would want one.

ok if the nfl can be wrong on a qb with as much research as they do what makes you think it really matters how many stars they have
