Who on the board thinks we need to land a 5 star, pro-style QB for 2011? It worries me that we haven't had a real difference maker at QB in some years. What could LSU have done with a Colt McCoy (who's also a good runner)or a Sam Bradford? I don't know what Garrett holds for us? I hope he turns out to be very good, but I also believe that we really need to get a star QB out there for 2011 who's lights out. Anyone agree, disagree? And why? Thanks in advance for your replies!

Edit: After many posts telling me that McCoy and Bradford were not 5 star players, I'll change the question to why hasn't LSU been able to find that level of talent with the Qb's we've had the last few years? If McCoy and Bradford were 3 stars, how did they become as good as they were and why haven't our recruits been able to achieve that level of skill? I know the defenses in the SEC are better and wouldn't allow the gaudy numbers that these guys have put up, but their abilities and results are better than what we've had for a few years. With that type of talent, we would've won many more games - agree or disagree?

We have offers out to a bunch of good QB's this year: Teddy Bridgewater, Marquise Williams, Kiehl Frazier, and Justin Worley among others. I would be happy with any of these guys, plus Zach Oliver could end up at LSU as well.

How about a really good 4* QB, would that suffice?

we also need 5 star OT's, OG's, TE, RB's, WR's, DT's, DE's, LB's and DB's.

I did notice that on Scout there's only one 5 star for 2011 - Braxton Miller out of Ohio and we've offered him. I guess a proven QB who's a 4 star would be the best that we could do if we don't get Miller. Wasn't JJ a 4 star as well? I guess I just want a kid who we know will be a great passer and has decent movement. Maybe Colt and Sam would not have been superstars in the SEC as another poster mentioned, but they most likely would have been much better than what we've had the last couple years.

Just when I think you can't get more idiotic...

Back to the topic, there are typically only 1-2 5 Star Pro-style QB in any given class. It's not like they grow on trees like most rantards desperately believe.

McCoy and Bradford would have done well in any conference.
McCoy is on the same level as Tebow, and Bradford is better and more consistent than Stafford was. Please lay the pipe down and think before making an asinine comment like that.

Except for, you know, the National Championships and the Heisman.

i dont believe that we need a 5*, but i do believe that we need a top flight guy in this class.

Driskel, Lemay, Bridgewater, Frazier i think would be tier 1

Worley, Oliver tier 2

Ok first off none of the guys you listed were 5 stars. Second there is anywhere between 0 to maybe 3 5* QBs a year. So these guys aren't falling out the sky. We have gotten 2 5* over the last couple years, but both were dual threat.

RS doesn't really count, but technically, yes.

I completely agree. I would rather say we need a "Top 100" quality QB.

You might want to check their "stars"...

Oliver no doubt, he isn't just a pure passer like everyone thinks and he HAS GAME SPEED. Jerry Rice ran a 4.6 40 and hes a WR. He ended up breaking lots of records. I think Zack Oliver is a pro-style QB who can compete with anyone.
Another QB who should play football again for senior year, Tyler Moore at Dunham. He was a magnificent passer for the Tigers in 2008, but didn't play in 09.
I hope Moore can play football again.
