LSU could have out bid AU, what does that do to the lockeroom
moral
I'm sorry but this is the absolute stupidest talking point in the entire universe (made even dumber by the fact that you spelled morale incorrectly).
Did it ruin locker-room morale when we brought in jayden daniels and meckhi wingo and miles frazier (etc) in 2022? Did it ruin locker-room morale when Florida State built its team via NIL-based portal additions last year and the year before? Does it ruin locker-room morale every time an NFL team signs a free agent? Of course not, because that's an idiotic thing to say.
Gimme a break. It's absolutely wild to me the extent to which people are straight up incapable of just admitting that they're frustrated that we lost out on some big targets. So instead they have to pretend like it's actually a good thing. The only other explanation is that they just absolutely despise the fact that college athletes aren't prohibited from profiting off their talent from the free market.

True
Acting like there was never pay for play before NIL.
Acting as if there were never locker room issues before NIL.
Lemme see that locker room when we have gassed DT/NG at the end of a game we just got gashed.
They think the rest of the defense will be like this?——-?

Not really. we could use a cherry on top but we have talented guys. Paez is new and started every game last year i think. They also ran a 3-3-5 for the first time insted of 3-4. He didn't look bad vs OSU but he didn't flash either. He also like 24.
We have:
Guillory
Lee
Paez
Makane'ole
Washington - F
McKinley - F
Johnson - F
Breaux - F who is converting to DT from DE.
You're also judging these guys from no DL coach and House. lets see what Baker and Bo can do. COACHING MATTERS!

$1.5 million for the 23rd ranked DL in the portal? Any coach that thinks that's okay is an idiot. Any fan that thinks that's okay is full retard.
Hell I would have rathered them just open up the checkbook to get Wingo to stay one more year.

How do you know they didn't? All info was that he hated school and wanted to go.

Fans want to see some consequences and continuity with teams. I have no problem with making money but there is something called a contract (reference the NFL) that binds both parties for the negotiated time frame. This current NIL with a transfer portal that’s becoming more liberal by the day (liberal means less and less restrictions for you Biden supporters) is slowly destroying college football. Won’t be long before players will get to transfer during the season.

I thinking Wingo stays with any 7 figure offer. CBK learning a hard lesson here. You can’t just plug and play if you don’t want to pay big dollars.

Wingo went in the 6th round. He was obviously not worth 7 figures. Desperation leads to bad decisions and our staff/NIL program has decided to not do that.

I'm not arguing what Wingo is or isnt worth. But he was by far the best DT we've had on this roster the last 2 seasons now. He unfortunately missed a handful of games this past season which probably didnt help his draft stock, but a 6th round pick still signs 4-year $4.2M deal with $200k singing bonus in his spot which while not insignificant we might have made a bette rNIL play to get him to stay.
My guess is he thought he would go way higher than the 6th round and it simply didnt work out for him. Even a mid 3rd round pick signs a 4 year almost $6M deal with $1M signing bonus which is probably about where he thought he could end up.
I think we could have easily competed NIL wise with a $200k signing bonus, maybe not so much a $1M one.

But they had the stats to back it up top billing. In 2021, Verse was named first-team All-CAA after finishing the season with 53 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.
Fiske Played in and started all 12 games in 2022 his last at WMU.... had career-high 59 tackles, 12.0 tackles for loss and six sacks, also forcing three fumbles ... named Second Team All-MAC
Now the ones you have been drooling over and wanted LSU to spend millions on
Williams -
Started every game for the second consecutive season, giving him 27 straight starts to begin his TCU career ... tied for second on the team with 3.0 sacks and fourth with 5.0 tackles for loss ... led the defensive front while tying for seventh overall with 33 stops ... his sacks came in wins over Nicholls 6-5 record, SMU lost all 3 times they stepped out of conference and Baylor 3-9 record real stud teams there
West- 2023 Season
Had a standout senior season where he recorded 50 tackles including 7 for a loss and forced a fumble.
Forced a fumble at UCF and recorded a sack.
Had 3 tackles including 2 for a loss against Central Connecticut.
Recorded 1sack against Miami.
1 whole sack all season against a weak schedule
Barrow- 2023- 36 tackles and 3 sacks… that’s it
You wanted to pay almost 2 million for that?!?!?!?!?!
We could get that now with what we already have. These guys are average. Verse and Fiske lit it up before transferring and then lit it up for FSU and now will probably do well in the NFL but you want to back up the Brinks truck for average talent that did hardly anything of note against non SEC OLines.

Then we should have gotten Blidi or West over Auburn and Indiana?
Posted on 5/8/24 at 11:00 am to Draco Malfoy
What part of they never went after West once he couldn’t be here until august don’t you get?
Blidi wanted $$$$ for limited production at freaking Indiana. If I’m gonna blow my wad and drop tons of money on a guy that these average at best players wanted I’m spending it on studs not warm bodies. If you told me they spent 1.5 mill on Will Campbell or Perk I’d say ok because they have earned that.

If true, looks like a mistake now. Huh?

Shea and Billy said Blidi wanted a fraction of what Williams and Barlow did

No because why would you pay to dollar for a guy that will be a UDFA in the nfl next year. We didn’t pay Wingo that much and he was a stud for us. We didn’t pay Smith or Jefferson that and they were better than this guy

They also said that Barrow and Williams were not paper chasing until they showed up saying show us the money so……

You think Indiana is paying “top dollar”?

I can't remember where I heard it. probably Scone. But Wingo was offered $$ to stay. Low 6 digits if I'm not mistaken. Hell Lance Heard was making low 6 to be a backup.

If they are desperate who knows but LSU did not go after him after he could not be here until the season was underway. You want to pay money to a guy that can’t even practice until August? What’s the point?

We would get a DT better than the majority we have now?

Is he better because he is in the transfer portal? Because his stats surely don’t say he is better.
