TV networks pay for it. The $ is accounted for through the earnings the football program brings in. The boosters supplement that. The change is that the SEC is going forward with doing away with title 9s bullshite of sharing money equally with sports that make no money. 70% split is to football going forward. As it should. The roster is a football expense. That comes out before the extra is divided amongst the in the red programs and academics. 14-17 mil for the roster through TV and another 10 or so through the joint collective/TAF venture. Easy money. It's up to the spenders to spend it where they choose and coddle the roster. That's why they get paid the big bucks.

Facility upgrades will occur much less frequently in the future. LSU athletics also recently saved $30m per year when they stopped giving money to academics.

NIL has only been around a few years. Getting TAF and BT aligned has helped more than people realize.

we don’t have any money but we’re squarely still recruiting in the top 5 with the big boys, let alone having the #1 QB in the nation committed. That isn’t cheap.

When lsu doesn’t get a commitment from someone it’s always “they can’t compete with NIL!! Ermagherd!!!”
LSU gets 5 star commitments and these same people act either shocked or down play it. I’ll never understand that psyche.

There's a structure to it all. You cant give an incoming freshman five star, a million dollar NIL deal and your all conference junior right tackle have a 200k nil deal. You have to allocate some money to successful guys you already have on your roster or you get A&M. We never didn't have money, there was just a way more sense able approach to how it was handled early on to keep everything from falling apart while all this unfolded.
