Damn, Maximus can still clear out a good RB thread

I figured this gem would get buried among all the NSD spam, so I wanted to bump it later.

When I was first posting on my old name it was 2007 or so. Started following after the Joe Mcknight drama.

Books, Lord of the Manor, lynxcat, SirRohan, Keys, Cadello, the Egg were definitely the glory days. Things have gotten progressively convoluted - too much showmanship. Recruiting was more fun when it was still on the fringe. Mainstream coverage ruined it, just like most all pop culture. You feed the masses and you dilute the product. Its just the reality you discover while aging.

How bout the Rueben Randle/Dlo Benton drama.
Storm Johnson and Lache Seastrunk - the best RB duo to never happen at LSU.
Stevie Douglas drama
Who was that CB's uncle that came and talked trash because LSU didnt take his nephew?
Watching Tyrann Mathieu as a complete unknown cover Jarvis Landry at the Tennessee camp when Kiffin was running wild.
The Janzen Jackson signing day head fake.

I called this dumb Ish stuff two years ago, when he first said there was poor communication from the LSU staff. Been following this for too long, and its formulaic if you know what youre looking for.

I remember that WR from Rayville (Kenny Bell), saying he was 80 percent committed the LSU the night before signing day, only to switch to Nick Sabans Alabama in 09. shite has been going on for 10 years and most still fall for it.

Anyway, thanks for the throw back thread. One of the few bright spots on a board where the sun set a long time ago...

The guy whose dad talked trash all the time was Noel Ellis who went to A&M.

Some guy broke the news of Kenny Bell going to Alabama when he saw him at a Verizon store wearing all Bama gear the day before NSD. The poster said Bell was shocked someone would recognize him.

I remember Seastrunk’s step aunt or something used to post. As did Reuben Randle’s brother, who met up with maybe half of this board.

Isn't Willie Lyles still involved in recruiting?

Shout out to the OGs back before there was even a recruiting board and we played “guess that recruit” with pics on the Rant.

Hilarious poster, used to use the faydeaux phrase or something to that tune, he was either a genius type comedian or nearly clinically insane.

I recall the Kenny Bell Verizon thing - good choice in Alabama, he must have liked Verizon and saw a future there with that choice.

It was BorntobeaTiger, Seastrunks neighbor that kept us informed, then his aunt posted later.

RIP Shooter

Tragic story. I remember it well. He wanted to make the College World Series, the National Championship game in football, and maybe a basketball tourney game??? Either way, he had accomplished the National Championship game in football. He was on his way home from Omaha, and blew out a tire on I-49 on the way home. Flipped into the neutral zone, and didnt make it. He was a hell of a poster.

Anytime man. Im a regular from well before the Scout days, and remember really looking forward to yours and lynxcats posts. It was much more grassroots back then. Im sure there are a ton more stories that you arent at liberty to share, but that comes with the trade. Cant give up your sources or well-kept secrets.

Congrats on your rise in the industry, awesome that you got your start here, and on the wedding.

I've been around since 09 but I wouldn't say I'm an old recruiting hand. I've posted here periodically.

I've posted almost exclusively on the poliboard for several years. Until I got sick and it became difficult for me to keep up over there. I'm here and on the rant now.

Did he? I vaguely recall someone had cancer and was going through a tough time but it might have been on the OT.

A few years after Shooter died, I believe the Hidden Flask committed suicide.

I remember Kenny Bell. I remember something about him showing up to school wearing bama clothes. Seems like there was some kind of drama along with that.

6 ft 4.4 40. I didn't think much of his film.

I used to post here quite a bit, back before dudes were baws and everyone was piihb (do they still do that?) Hey look a gymnastics sticky... that’s different. I enjoyed trying to get a heads up on the next big thing for a while and knowing some of the LSU players better.

I remember thinking seastrunk was going to be so special and was heartbroken we didn’t land him. But that was ok bc we had already landed this dual threat qb from cypress ridge who was going to have a statue (maybe two) out front. He scored a long td on an option keeper as a Fr. then decided he didn’t like qb anymore and played mediocre wideout instead.

At some point I realized that all I really cared about was how well they did at LSU and everything I thought of their potential prior to that or if they went somewhere else.... it didn’t really mean squat. That and being an adult is really time consuming.

I will say that when I was curious about the state of affairs on NSD, this is still the only place I needed to come. Cheers for that.

What year did this board actually start? Was it here when Ego founded the University of LSU on NSD 2010 or so?

Was before that. Tards decided recruiting had nothing to do with LSU rant and they complained, a lot.

Next year has a chance to be an all-time recruiting class. Maybe we should set up a pay board where the oldies are experts and we divide the profits: 1/4 each to TAF, the oldies, tigerdroppings, and a suicide prevention hotline.

Probably the best time to do it. Maybe a $100 fee?
