When do classes start at LSU? How does this affect the transfer portal?

Do players in the portal enroll in the college they already attend and remain in the portal? If a player doesn’t find a new destination can they return to their original team? Those who know can you tell us how all this works out?

Does this mean Howard needs to have a destination picked by then to be able to participate in that teams spring ball? If so, look for him to pick a place by then or possibly continue school at LSU or transfer after the spring.

No. They can keep their name in the portal then transfer in spring if they want.

School starts Tuesday, but there is a drop/add late enrollment until Jan 26.
Players can stay at their current school through spring if they are in the portal.
Regarding Howard, if he wants to participate in spring with his new school, he needs to enroll by the deadline of whatever his new school is. That date will vary, but for sure will be in the next week or so.

The portal is like a state of limbo. The player can exit the portal and return to his team if the school allows it.

Yea, it looks like it’s Ole Miss or TCU for Howard.
Ole Miss actually looks like a decent option. Jaxon Dart will be a junior and his backup transferred.
So it would be Walker and a few lightly recruited freshmen and sophomores.
Dart runs a good bit, so there’s always an injury possibility.
I don’t think Howard could beat out Dart, who had started for two years at USC, but he should easily be the No 2 and get good reps.

Spring semester always starts the day after MLK day.
