It seems like currently this class is a little "light" on Big Guys. What big time prospects are we in the chase for?

Most championship teams can be traced by to stud OL/DL play, especially true for LSU's NC teams.

Jermarcus Hardrick has something to say about that

Elliot Porter will be a commit soon as an OL (not DT like most schools are recruiting him as).

Jordan Allen will eventually be a Tiger.

Already have Hardrick and Fordham in the bag.

Lynx,

What's your take on Noel Johnson?

Basketball recruiting isn't something I follow all that close to be honest.

I don't have too much of an opinion on this guy, other than we need him. The bball team has some serious #'s issues for next season.

Sorry I can't be more help.

That just seems like a low # for a 20+ class. You never can have to much talent in the trenches IMO.

I also forgot Evan Washington on the OL who is a big time prospect.

You have to remember that LSU took a TON of DL last year so that is not as much of a need this year. Also, the DT/DE talent pool is smaller this year, while it was huge last year and will be huge again in 2011.

We do need a big time OT prospect IMO, but I think we are holding out on La'el Collins in 2011 (potential #1 overall Tackle in the country)

If we can finish this class with Evan Washington at OT, Byran Jones at DT, of course Allen at DE, and my personal favorite Juco WDE Bonolomo from Rummel; I'll be a very very happy man.

I want to see Bonolomo and Montgomery rushing the passer on third downs the next two years!

I forgot Rea, I'll take him as well. He has a lot of potential if he dedicates himself to football.

don't forget about Pryer, juco DE... A lot like Hicks from last year in that he looks to be a tweener type as either a SDE or DT due to his size

so a recap:
OL: Hardrick
Washington
Porter (a few weeks ago I had him as a DL)
Fordham
DE: Allen
Pryer
DT: Jones or another DT on the board? I still don't know who we get here, and just put Jones cause he's from the state

I dropped Wes Rae from my possible list cause if Porter got a scholly offer at camp, it makes me believe Rae won't be a part of this class unless we don't get Washington... I don't know whats up with Rae? Any thoughts?

I still say Allen would be a beast at LT.

I can actually see why you'd say that with his length and frame... He looks like he could carry a good 50 more pounds, but I'll stick with the idea that he stays at DE

Pryor is unban myth at this point. There's no evidence that he can play. I'll take Bonolomo over him in a second, at least there is evidence that he's a baller.

Plus, we have about 100000 SDE types and only Monty at WDE.

The OL will be accounted for when its all said and done. I think we take 4 total there unless there's a cant miss OL left on the board.
(Really hoping we can land Washington here and we need another Guard.)

DE will be accounted for as well. 2 here should do it, with a few DE/TE/LB athletes to place.
(Allen will be a Tiger, the other spot is in the air)

The biggest question mark is DT. Im not sure who we have serious interest from at this position. I know we took Davenport, Downs, Hicks last year, but the year before Im not sure we landed very many. Id really like to see us land at least 2 DT this class. But its a numbers game, so we'll see.
(Elliot Porter maybe and he could be like Joe Barksdale and switch over to OL once he lands here) (Torrea Peterson who is vastly underrated, and Evan Hailes will be some names that get mentioned, just not sure where we sit with them).

Chase Clement
Bennie Logan
Barkevious Mingo (good possibility)

Clement and Logan are both SDEs. Logan is already listed at 272, and his only weakness really is a lack of elite speed.

Mingo is a freakin' beanpole. He's lucky if he weighs 200lbs right now.

With two defensive ends, two additional offensive lineman, and two defensive tackles, there is very little room left for maneuvering. Since there will definitely be two running backs, one more receiver, and at least two more defensive players who are not lineman, that is a minimum of 5 spots that will definitely not be used on linemen.

There could also be an additional tight end and another linebacker or defensive back, so I think the number of additional lineman will be between three and five, with two of them being Jordan Allen and Elliot Porter (since it seems like he has a CO).

I think Porter would make an excellent OT. He's all over the field as a DE and he looks very quick.

Lynx, wouldn't that equate to OT instead of OG?

Don't count out Chad Lindsay. Some say Lindsay may show up at camp in July.
