The linebacker from Alabama
I know he either went into the portal or left the team
Where did he end up

Honestly u don’t want to be a part of LSU right now that’s on the player
Get out of the way and LSU will have no problem finding 25 and I don’t care if it’s a one star or a five star

Right, but that wasn't the question
Why did he leave in the first place?
I remember it being something weird

He hasn’t committed anywhere else yet that I’ve seen. Word was he was in over his head at LSU.

I can’t find any answers on google. Hopefully someone who knows the kid or his family can give some insight, but this thread got off topic very quick.

Seems he has transferred to Arizona. Can’t seem to find any other information online. Don’t see him on the roster

He pretty much quit because he either was pulled off special teams or didn’t want to play special teams and wasn’t seeing the field on defense I can’t remember which one but he basically took his ball and went home. Some kids just don’t like competition.

He may not have been a very athletic LB, but the kid was a thumper. I wish he had decided to stick it out.

Our defense is built on speed to play sideline to sideline so a traditional 2 down thumper MLB really doesn’t fit. He made the right call by looking elsewhere, LSU can use his spot on the 85 for better fit.

So if he didn't fit, why did aranda want him

It is strange considering the narrative was we passed on Christian Harris because he wasn't a good fit and Aranda had McCallum graded higher.

Hate to agree with Lester, but I think he's right this time. McCallum was a guy who was highly thought of by Aranda but practically no one else. Aranda missed on that one. He was like that five star linebacker from up north. Once he got on the practice field with LSU level talent he was exposed.

5-star OLB Clifton Garrett, LSU: Clifton Garrett played in only three games for the Tigers in 2014 before missing the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.
Following that year, he transferred to Arizona Western College, a JUCO. In 2016, he was supposed to suit up for UAB, but didn’t have the grades necessary to return to the Division I level.
