His offer list was Oklahoma, Arkansas, Miss St, La Tech, TCU and McNeese. He had interest from a few other teams, including LSU, but apparently none of them offered. It seems like a ton of people missed on him, not just LSU.

it is probably for the best. LSU for whatever reason does a poor job of player development. This isn't a knock on Orgeron and staff because this has been going on way before he came here but it is a fact none the less.
There are just enough idiots on this board to keep this idea alive. Then, you sit back and look at how many LSU players are in the NFL, which at one point was the most of any college program and Id be willing to bet is still top 3, and you see how foolish this idea really is.

LSU screwed the pooch on this one. Probably offered him a walk-on spot. He’s better off having gone to Oklahoma, at LSU he probably would have rode the pine.

I know Cody well. Great kid! Cody went to LSU and was personally evaluated by Miles for two days. At the end of day 2, Miles told him he was not D1 material. He would’ve jumped on an LSU offer in a heartbeat! Damn shame Miles didn’t know much about the offensive line! Weird how these position coaches that turn into head coaches are great at recruiting every position except their own!!!

Just another Les Miles the idiot story.

So it was poor evaluation? Do you recall a time when players like this went to LSU and then shocked people by becoming what this guy has become? With the issues on Oline and Dline this staff needs to be better evaluators. I know for the most part they have done a very good job, but Louisiana doesn't produce a lot of great Olinemen, LSU can't afford to miss on players like this. The Dak Prescots and such. Sometimes I wonder if the LSU staff pays any attention to the rankings on these recruiting services like 247 or Rivals and etc.?
On the flip you have LSU 5-star commits like Willie Allen, #2 rated OT in the country out of John Curtis who transfers out and can't crack the starting lineup for La Tech.
Pro tip: It's not an exact science.

Easy to cherry pick the outliers and there are outliers in every class. There are also major bust 5 stars in every class.

Of all the things to point to, including but not limited to:
- poor evaluations
- recruiter laziness
- level of competition
- stud on bad HS team
- better players higher on the board
- head cases
- lazy recruits
- star gazing
Ford, and many others, being not offered is a result of the fact that between the first update on 247 through signing day to summer practice there is ALOT of variables. At top of list is both the effort put in by a coach on developing a player and the player's effort in the S&C program + practices.
Every once in a while you get a recruit who needs work but has potential... THEN he puts in the work AND the coaches give him the support/tools to turn that potential energy into kinetic energy. And you end up with a Ford.
Remember, "coaches are people too"... to a lesser degree than us posters on a message board they are susceptible to giving up on players also. It's easy, and lazy, to focus only on the stars and SEC-ready players; it is also human nature. It happens. A good staff, not just a HC, polices itself so that doesn't happen alot.

Lsu has the most or second most active players in the nfl. They obviously do not have a player development issue. So your “facts” are opinion because the facts are they develop nfl players.
