What was the story with Cody Ford not going to LSU

Was Cody Ford not offered by LSU or did he just decide to go out-of-state? Anyone know how a future first rounder got away from the LSU staff?

Hindsight.
You know what they say.

59th best OT coming out of Pineville.

According to whom? I suppose the LSU staff didn't see the potential. And this is what really bothers me about recruiting today. People don't evaluate a players potential, they just evaluate whether the player is college ready. LSU needs to do a better job than this. Especially when they are battling others to keep the top instate players.

So it was poor evaluation? Do you recall a time when players like this went to LSU and then shocked people by becoming what this guy has become? With the issues on Oline and Dline this staff needs to be better evaluators. I know for the most part they have done a very good job, but Louisiana doesn't produce a lot of great Olinemen, LSU can't afford to miss on players like this. The Dak Prescots and such. Sometimes I wonder if the LSU staff pays any attention to the rankings on these recruiting services like 247 or Rivals and etc.?

Particularly OL.
Our OL class that year
Maea Teuhuma
Adrian Magee
George Brown
Chide Okeke-Valentine
Toby Weathersby
Hanner Shipley (TE we planned to develop at OT)
All were considered better prospects with maybe Brown (who had major upside) and Shipley. Just a mix of head cases/kids not willing to buy in (Shipley, Brown, Okeke) and the Teuhumas being the Teuhumas. And a missed eval in Ford.
Iirc, there were a few on this board, myself included, that touted Ford as a want early then it became obvious we werent gonna take him.

Ford went to the summer camp. LSU not impressed enough to offer.

I'm not wired up over this or anything of that nature, just was curious about this player. I did go back and watch HS film of him and he had the tools to be a highly recruited player. Quick feet, athletic, high motor, good technique, wide stance, looked good. But LSU did have a few very good Olinmen on their radar that season. A couple just didn't pan out.

hard to project heart, work ethic, and physical development.

At the time he just didn’t have SEC measurables. Im from Pineville, still here......the simple answer is we get our kicked every week now that we moved up to 5A.....one stud on a team that constantly gets smoked is hard to find. That coupled with the HC getting fired due to some BS played a part in it.

Recruiting is somewhat overrated. History will show that if 6-8 guys in a class turn out to be as good as their stars, then you've had a great recruiting class!

it is probably for the best. LSU for whatever reason does a poor job of player development. This isn't a knock on Orgeron and staff because this has been going on way before he came here but it is a fact none the less.

He wasn’t offered. I hate reading the comments on here where people are defending how we didn’t evaluate him properly because he wasn’t a top player in the state but yet Oklahoma got their arse down here to do so.
