For years, defensive tackle has been the position that LSU has enjoyed an embarrassment of riches. Last year, LSU started to see a slide based on attrition and a down recruiting class or two.

LSU is now in the position of having to rely heavily on completely inexperienced defensive tackles in 2014.

Projecting forward, LSU has no defensive tackled committed thus far in the 2015 class.

What is the likelihood of landing a stud DT or two in the remainder of available spots for 2015?

What are our prospects for 2016?

Just kinda been a dry spell as far as guys who fit in our scheme and lived in our footprint, and that includes OOS. Willis was the second biggest miss of last year's class behind CRob, and we all know that story. 2016 is expected to be big.

Valentine was rated the #3 DT in the country and he's on the way. Herron, Bain, LaCoutre will all be very good and young. I think we are in good shape.

What about TD Moton - any chance that he flips from Bama and does he even fit the LSU scheme?

I don't think LSU is interested in Moton anymore

Attrition hurt, as well as m Johnson not living up to the hype. I think recruiting is fine. Do we need a DT this cycle lol? I think we have plenty young ones, make room for the 2016 guys.

Could have played this year:
Freak 5 star
Ego High four star

This season:
Q Thomas 3 star. RSJR
M Johnson 4 star. RSJR
Lacoutre 3 star. So
Herron 4/5 star. RsFR
Bain 3 star. RSFR
Gilmore high 4 star. RSFR
Valentine high 4 star. Fr
Trey L* 4 star. Fr
Godchaux 3 star. Fr

We have 9 guys to fill a 4 man rotation, all but 2 have been in the program less than 15 months and have a lot of potential. We could easily return all 9 next season

most of our studs come here as a DE and put on weight and become a DT in year two or three in the program. i.e. Ego, Brockers, Logan, Herron, Lacatoure
Isiah Washington could fit that mold.

We basically have our DT for 2015 in Trey LMAO, if he can recover physically and mentally. 2016 will be huge if we get Edwin Alexander and Rashard Lawrence. Glen Logan is a player too.

LSU is stocked with young DTs. Lacouture, Thomas, Herron, Bain, Gilmore, Valentine, Godchaux, Trey L. That is eight, and only Thomas could conceivably leave, with a good season.

We don't need a big DT class for 2015,though one DT would be nice.

No matter LSU's DLU rep, it is still harder to reel in an out of state kid than an instate one. And of the ones instate who were on the early radar, Moton.lacks explosion and is more of a 3-4 NT, Milton is viewed more as a center prospect than a DT, and Washington's stock fell off.

I'm still wondering if the staff is looking at Oshea Dugas, and if so, is it as a DT or OT.

bristen guidry will show in my opinion that he will be the best dt in the state . he plays at a higher competition level and was all state as a soph. he has added weight he just has to get it all together .

I've been seeing several threads lately about the lack of DT recruiting for 2015 and I can't understand why. Do fans not realize LSU signed 4 DTs in 2013 and 3 in 2014. If these guys follow recruiting they should without a question know how ridiculously loaded the 2016 class is at DT, especially in state.

LSU always relies on inexperienced DTs. They never have the same returning starters at that position because they are always going to the league. I'm really not worried these guys don't have the same numbers of snaps Nevis, Downs, or Pep had. Just let them prove themselves when their name is called like Brockers, Logan, and Ego did.

There just isn't name recognition right now. We have become accustomed to learning the up and comers through their play in sub packages. That has been diminished to an extent with all of the Juniors taking the early exit.

I'm hoping that we have a legit shot at Darrion Daniels (Dallas, TX). He may not be a perfect fit but has body-potential (nice large frame with room to grow). I would worry a little about his level of competition (Bishop Dunne Catholic).

I think people need to remember that Lacatoure was the #3 guy last year. That isn't because we didn't have other option

Thomas going down sucks, but we have young talented guys who hopefully can step up as a unit.

i have faith a lot of talent there.
