DJ Welter shouldn’t have sniffed a D1/SEC offer. At best, he should have been a walk on and a practice player for the scout team.

If he was listed as an athlete on some of the boards, he has to be much faster than Welter. And that was the big knock on Welter, he couldn't run down the faster backs in the SEC

Look at the highschool tape of Jamar Gibbs. No service had him as a five star. He was outside of the top 100 until the end of his senior year. That the kind of guy I’m talking about. The same with Travis Ettiene. We got slow played by 5 star cam Akers. When we had a legit guy in our back yard.

I haven't "watched tape" on Weeks, but consider that he was part of the 2020 class and there weren't camps that year, so a lot of guys probably got locked into a ranking and there wasn't as much opportunity to climb. I'd take 2020 recruiting rankings with block of salt.
I cite your post not because of Weeks, but because it is also a consideration regarding the transfer portal overall.
There's players out there because of a year long dead period never got eyes laid on them. With immediate eligibility. With an extra 7 spots.
They aren't falling from the sky, and there's not a whole army of them... but they are out there.
So when we grab a guy from the portal take that into consideration- was he from the missing year of 2020 recruits (class of 2021)?

Jesus people. Just because LSU hasn’t had a good or great white linebacker in the past doesn’t mean they aren’t out there. Plenty of them in the NFL and that Ole Miss Linebacker that is white was pretty damn good. Let’s just hope he can contribute early and not worry about him being white
