Not panicking but the idea that Wade is silently playing 4D chess while we watch 95% of the top prospects sign with other schools IS panic inducing whether you want to admit that or not. We don't have much info to work with but it seems like Wade is banking on the 5th year thing and getting a G leaguer or 2 eligible. If it works out, he is a mastermind but if we fail on both fronts, we will be up the creek so to speak. I'm sure Wade has a plan B but waiting in silence is nerve racking.

Fair analysis. Sure, I’d have liked to seen him sign 5 top 100 transfers and a few lower rated guys. But I think (hope) he’s got things done that just aren’t public and not the MO we expect. I could be wrong, he’s missed on everyone he’s targeted, and he’s in his office saying, “Oh shite.” But until the final guy is signed I’m not panicked. I’ve seen Wade build rosters, and I believe he’ll have a top-half SEC team on the floor come November. I stand to be corrected if not.

It’s pretty silly to even be concerned with recruiting right now.

When do we have your permission to be concerned? It seems like when there are only 7 of the top 50 and 13 of the top 100 guys left unsigned would be a great time to be concerned.

No one said anything was falling apart. I get concerned about my children/family in certain situations, doesn't mean I think they are gonna be failures.

No but I do think they are banking on loopholes and legislation based on the info we have and if it works we will be golden. If it doesn't, there isn't an infinite pool of top end talent to grab a month or 2 down the road.

here is absolutely nothing to worry about right now.

I think that having 1 player on scholarship at this point is absolutely something to worry about. Should we panic or claim Wade is whiffing left and right? Absolutely not. But I worry about insigificant shite that is most likely gonna be fine all the time, I can easily add this to the list.

I agree with everything you said. The one fishy part is the Kentucky kid being allowed to announce publicly while the "silent commits" are being held in the dark. Not sue why that would be allowed. He is the only player that has announced a visit and then he publicly committed. Why is his recruitment different the others?

I have faith in CWW so there must be a reason and I don't think he has gone this long without signing anyone at all but its strange and concerning.

Even if he is waiting on the 5 for 5 thing to fall, he could also be waiting on window for Internationals to be done. He is not going to put entire roster into the 5 for 5 and have to replace entire roster again next year. I am confident he is putting together a mixture of younger talented guys along with looking at bringing in a couple international players and hoping to be able to make a splash with a few of the 5 for 5 guys. they would just be the cream on top of what he is putting together though

I also think he is working on Hampton reclassifying and probably another HS guy or 2 that we don't know about.

Yes, this is the outlier of the theory that there are other guys in the fold, which makes me believe there is an unconventional plan going on behind the scenes in terms of the players being targeted. Perhaps MD is the only conventional portal player that we’d bagged thus far, and any “secret” commits aren’t from the portal.

I recall posting a tweet last week questioning why Wade was at a tournament for seniors showcasing for NBA teams (Portsmouth Invitational?). I see now it lends credence to the thought that Wade may be focusing primarily on the 5-to-play-5 ruling going in favor of the players prior to the season. If so, maybe he’s saving NIL funds to hit that pool hard. Does he know something we don’t in terms of the likelihood it happens? Why aren’t a bunch of other programs doing the same? (Maybe some are, idk.) Surely he wouldn’t be the only coach to know. But he is filling an entire roster while others are just filling fewer spots, thus not looking to grab from the 5-5 pool.

If it happens and we have a lot of budget left to spend and a ton of roster spots still open then Wade’s hit a home run. If this is his plan and 5-5 doesn’t happen… uh oh.

I think I saw that he and Marquel Sutton entered the portal. I don’t think the senior entries show on the ranking sites like on3.

The coaches are fine.

The state of the roster is not their fault, and they cant exactly control which players are available. It will be Wade's greatest coaching victory if he can get it to work in year 1.
