Sounds like everyone has given up on Spears.
Not at all, but in a perfect world, you have 3 experienced, starting caliber safeties. We have none. Gilbert is experienced, and Toviano and Spears are the caliber of athelete you need, they just don't have enough experience.

Toviano was playing out of position at CB. Have you even seen him play safety? I have! Cut your bullshite!

Same thread over and over.
Read the other 10 threads about this exact same topic.

Well at some point they need to get put in the fire and get some experience, right? ...if not now, this will be the same narrative later.

I don't know how anybody can look at what they are addressing in the portal and think that this staff will let one position go addressing that needs it.
Nevermind. I understand why you would make this thread.

Just like sage Ryan, right?

Guess what we will find out real quick if he can play safety in a few days. Bet you’re going to look like a retard as usual.

Lmao Toviano’s true position is safety and he has the frame to back it up. He’s over 6’0 and can be the guy we need. He is not a corner by any means. Ryan was actually more of a nickel/corner than a safety.

Is this a TigerBait2008 alter? His account is just a troll account that talks shite and criticizes everyone else’s threads but never produces any content on its own.

Ryan played better as a Safety this season than he did a CB last year and in the first two games this season. He wasn’t better than average, but he was at least serviceable in his natural position. He’s just always been a tweeter- too small to be an every down Safety and too slow to be a CB.
Toviano has the frame and strength to play Safety. He was than a highly regarded recruit at that position, but has always played out of position here because of depth and talent problems. Then he got himself in the doghouse and ended up as a backup Star- again, still not a true FS or SS where we struggled the most this year.
Toviano did get snaps as the backup at Star until we shifted to more 4-3 at the end of the season. So basically your entire argument that he must suck because he didn’t magically start at a position he never played this season is just more wishcasting bullshite on your part so you have more to bitch and whine about, which is all you do on this site anymore.

We had people playing out of position all year.

Dude, relax.
Amazing what a 3 week run in the portal can do to the moral of our fan base.
And I agree…

They already have their safety - let the games finish and play out. Patience is a virtue!

Not I. I think he's gonna be a really good player for us and expect him to start next year and take a big jump up in performance after getting acclimated to the level of play in the SEC his freshman season. I'm more confident in Spears starting than Toviano, but we'll see how things shake out. My feeling is we just need to add one safety with experience to shore up the back end.

100%. The only question is who the other corner will be and if they bring in one more experienced guy to start or compete for that other spot. I'm curious who their nickel/slot corner will be. That spot is completely up in the air.
