yeah we're actually pretty fortunate to be dealing with the debacle special Ed left our roster in during the portal era. What could have taken years to unfrick has been expedited.

We're still a destination school with a very attractive depth chart, that's big for these portal guys

I like getting a guy like Wingo. He's proven he can play in the SEC. He's probably not an early entrant to the NFL draft. He's burned his transfer. We should have him for 3 years.

Where are the mouth-breathers that were screaming "how will we even field a team next year" during the bowl game?

Very versatile also. Could play end or tackle depending on the situation. Will make for quality depth across the entire line if nothing else.

In their defense, things looked pretty bleak for a minute

BK has turned things around ( at least on paper ) very quickly though.

The whole “Brian Kelly isn’t doing anything” narrative is not aging well.

BK going with the Mich ST model. Next years recruiting class is going to be a big one with transfer portal plug and play at needed positions. He should be really humming year 3

We are now at a point where we are looking at how to prevent reaching the 81 scholarship limit, something that was not even on my radar a few weeks ago.

On the one hand, this is the first year of a wide-open portal that is being used by all of the heavy hitters (Michigan State and some others used it last year) so it makes it easier to address shortcomings.

On the other hand, I can’t imagine Ed would have been able to take advantage of the situation nearly as quickly as Brian Kelly has.

not as calculated, no.

Ed clearly had no fricking idea how to manage a roster over a long haul.

Hell, he probably would have gone all in on the Bama LB transfers just for the PR Ws

Yep, the focus that Kelly has put on the trenches tells us he has a better idea of roster needs than Shrimp Boat ever did.
