I totally agree, it makes perfect sense for her to come here! However, she doesn’t seem
to be remotely interested. Maybe the NIL bag and her former high school teammate can change that.

i think from a smart pr standpoint you hold any announcements for post players separately. and maybe the ink isn’t dry for anyone yet either.

————

i could see someone like ncstate taking a swing for barker. they lost both their bigs and don’t have a lot of experienced players to take on those roles. that being said, i think she’d be great here. with her playing style and build, she reminds me a lot of ladazhia williams, who was always one of my favorites. i just remember barker seeming really outdone with lsu in the february game. she got very upset when adr swung an elbow at one her teammates, and she and flau’jae had a heated conversation. it was a very, very chippy game, and joni made her sit.

LSU isn’t actively recruiting Whitehorn anymore, that visit is canceled. I believe she is headed to visit TN this weekend or I heard that at least.

Rest of the roster is likely 1 or 2 post players.

But I heard weeks ago lsu is not an option for barker unless something dramatically changed. Out of Hs she was very adamant about playing for a black coach(she said it herself)

Bring in Dauda and/or Amina from Texas. I get it’s not flashy like someone the caliber of Reese but this team already has a lot of talent as is.

There is the off chance LSU looks at some players internationally, but that likely won't be for next season's roster

if you watch the press conference she did after that game in feb, she was really frustrated. it was a frustration like, "ive played with these girls (morrow, angel, mk, flaujae), and theyre no better than me, yet they and their team are getting the praise and the accolades and the attention and the money..."

i think she wants that too. college is only 4 fast yrs, you gotta figure out what you want and make the moves to get it bc it's over. i think i even mentioned in the youtube comments how i felt bad for her that she was on a team that was going nowhere, but i could never see her leaving joni. yet...here we are!

i did watch that press conference. and i read it different -- however, i prefer how you read it, so i'll adapt to that.

and Tigerbait357 i don't think we need anyone flashy at this point. we just need some hard working, good, solid players. if anyone wants flashy - we got big 4 already!

Heard the same! It’s something discussed a lot in aau circles persuasively when a few certain schools flock the gyms. This isn’t something new but the majority of the players aren’t willing to limit themselves to only black coaches or an HBCU.

well lets hope shes learned a lesson. coming out of high school it doesnt look like she wanted to play for a particular school, she wanted to play for joni. and look where thats gotten her. she needs to find a PROGRAM that suits whatever her checklist is at this point and understand youre never gonna go thru your entire basketball career playing with only black coaches! even if she doesnt end up at lsu, im hoping she's starting to mature enough to realize this and find a place that will pull the best out of her.

Amina Muhammad & an LSU staff member just started following each other…let’s get her in for a visit ASAP and close the deal (crosses fingers)

Kim would do exceptionally well with either Amina or Dauda. Let’s just get one of them and will sit much better next year

i think there's 3 left of the 15 scholarships available.

7 current players (izzy isnt on scholarship), 4 transfers, and jada richard will be on the roster. do most schools usually use all 15?

I am almost certain you get 13 scholarships per basketball program and as many walk-ons as you want

Sitting at 12 players right now

Smith
Morrow
Williams
Johnson
Wilson
ADR
Wolfenberger
Gilbert
Poa
Sheppard
Jada
Bartlett

Izzy - WO

3 but the chances of adding both IMO are pretty slim

I think LSU adds more and goes into the 2024 with 13 on scholarship which is more than we had this year, and the biggest thing is the bench this year is all much more playable and has proven production coming in

Scholarship Only

Guards:
-Flaujae
-Williams
-Day-Wilson
-Gilbert
-Sheppard
-Poa
-Richard

Posts/Forwards:
-Morrow
-Smith
-Rosario
-Wolfenbarger
-Bartlett
-Dauda or Muhammad

i think it may be hard to get two post players to commit. after the first one committed, anyone else would do the math on playing time and know there may not be a lot of it left.

also, bigs are in low supply, high demand in the portal.

i think they need to use 2 of those 3 remaining scholarships and get 2 bigs.

SMITH - shes the best big we got! will she be 100% (like really 100%) when the season starts? i mean, we can take her at 85% i guess but we dont need her to be reaggravate the other knee again. or a foot.

ADR - sorry! im calling this one a dud. i dont think she produced nearly as much as kim would have liked esp for being the #7 recruit outta high school. id take audi crooks (at #57) over ADR any day! being 6'6 can only get you so much--you gotta know how to use that height, and she doesnt. hopefully she'll get better this summer like smith did.

MORROW - meh. wildly inconsistent. and i highly doubt she's really 6'1. maybe 5'11 on a good day. when angel missed those games in november, she shined! if we can get that girl to come play at every game, that'd be at least 2 decent frontcourt players.

WOLFENBARGER - shes listed as a guard. and from all the video ive seen of her, thats the position she plays. ive never seen her post up, never seen her defending down low--but i guess today's game is a position-less one, so if mulkey wants her to be a big....
that said, we all saw how well hvl did playing outside of her position.

BARTLETT - why?

SO WE NEED 2 GOOD BIGS! GOOD BIGS! PREFERABLY AT LEAST 6'2!!

I disagree with your assessments on Morrow and ADR. Other than Johnson and Reese Morrow was the heart of the team. ADR was very raw and improved as the year went on. Name another Freshman with her size in the nation that improved like she has. There is not many. She is still another year away from starting week in and week out.As far as getting 2 more bigs I don’t see it and I would be happy with one.
