Including a corner and a safety. Haven’t seen much about bama portal players yet other than Bond. Ideally another corner and two Dts need to be added.

Nobody’s defense was as bad as ours.

God, that is a tired old myth. Was LSU's defense BAD this year? YES! Was it remotely the worst either ranked this year or in LSU's history. Of course NOT!!! Pelini's second tenure at LSU defense was BY FAR the worst in LSU history...by about 70 yards per game. And this season, 25 teams were lower ranked than LSU's in team defense.

Oh, and BTW, since Washington is the topic, Washington's pass defense was WORSE than LSU's. Washington ranked 117th while LSU's was 115th. UW's pass defense gave up 258 ypg...LSU's only 255. In total defense, Washington ranked 96...LSU 105 with a difference of 10 ypg. Having given the stats, I will say that I liked the starting CB Muhammad who has multiple years of eligibility left. The S Powell I don't see on the UW depth chart. Of course, we all know that the secondary is NOT the only reason that pass defense suffers...if you don't have a pass rush, your coverage suffers.

To be fair, look at passing efficiency defense and lsu is way worse and UW was actually decent.

They got thrown on a ton that added up to yardage. LSU’s defense just sucked and gave up yards in chunks with no resistance on much fewer plays. Stats, particularly tota stats, should be taken in context.

Lol at all of this. I watched the games just like everyone else here. They were dog shite. I don’t care if they were 70 yards per game less than the worst ever. They were bad enough to lose a bunch of games if ur weren’t for JD. They were way below the threshold of being anywhere near an acceptable defense. The entire D staff was fired ffs. Who are you trying to take up for? You getting upset because people thought, when watching them, that they were the worst defense in LSU history? That’s plenty bad enough.

LSU got thrown on a ton that added up to yardage. LSU's rushing defense wasn't bad. In fact, 1st and 2nd downs, LSU's defense was pretty darn good. Where LSU got killed on was 3rd and 8...3rd and 12...3rd and 15. So the pass defense wasn't bad until 3rd and longs...the situation where the other team should hardly ever pick up a first down.

Wow, I said the "LSU defense was BAD". Did you not see that? I didn't take up for anyone if you read my post. What I said was that there is a lot of HYPERBOLE going by certain posters here....and there is. Worst defense in the nation...NO!!! Worst defense in LSU history? NO!! I saw the games too and here is what I saw.

1) Almost never a defensive bust like happened several times a game when Pelini came back
2) GOOD on 1st and 2nd downs but BAD on stopping 3rd and longs
3) usually played much better in the 2nd half...Missouri, Wisconsin, etc

But you are 105th in total defense out of 130...NOT good. You are 11th out of 14th in sacks in the SEC...NOT good. I don't know how much of that was bad coaching/schemes or green/inexperienced players but it doesn't matter. The defensive coaches are now gone.

Just say they were horrible. You are wasting time trying to explain every little detail about the defense. They were historically bad for LSU standards and LSU is not bowl eligible this year without Jayden putting the entire team on his back

Total Defense:
Rank Team
96 Washington - 406.7 ypg
105 LSU - 416.6 ypg

Pass D:
115 LSU-comp% allowed -63.81% - ypg 255.6
117 Wash-comp% allowed -59.18%-ypg 258.6

Rush Defense
58 Washington - ypr - 4.69 - ypg 148.1
85 LSU - ypr-4.53 - ypg 161

Scoring Defense
54 Washington PPG 24.8
T-78 LSU PPG 28

Pass defense was worse. Also their safety is white. Seems to be Clemsons downfall.

Lol is the only acceptable response to this. Again.
